A jury has found a man guilty of conspiring to steal a passenger jet and commit a 9/11-inspired attack under the direction of Somalian terrorist organization “al Shabaab.”Cholo Abdi Abdullah, 34, was found guilty Monday on six counts including conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and conspiring to murder U.S. nationals. Abdullah had sworn allegiance to Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mijahideen, the militant Islamist group commonly known as “al Shabaab,” based in Somalia, prosecutors said. He took part in a plot to hijack a commercial plane and crash it into a building in the U.S., reminiscent of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, prosecutors said. A screengrab from a video shows security cam footage of Davis Moturi prior to allegedly being shot by his neighbor John Sawchak, while Moturi was doing yard work at his home. John Sawchak Hennepin County Sheriff's OfficePolice were first dispatched to the home in October 2023 after Sawchak allegedly made threats involving “disparaging racial comments” at Moturi. Then, a week before the shooting, Sawchak allegedly stood outside the Moturis’ home with a firearm and pointed the gun at Davis through the window, according to prosecutors. On October 23, Sawchak allegedly shot Moturi in the neck from his second-floor window. Yet his arrest has done little to quell renewed tensions between the Minneapolis officers and the community they have sworn to protect and serve.

The Central Texas television station KCEN team mourned one of their own live on-air Oct. 30 and announced the death of co-anchor Kris Radcliffe. Co-anchor Lindsay Liepman of KCEN, an NBC affiliate in Temple, Texas, became visibly emotional as she shared during the Wednesday newscast that Radcliffe “died unexpectedly.” He was 51. She reminisced about their time off-screen and extended her condolences to his family, including Radcliffe’s wife, daughters and grandchildren, as well as his sister. She continued by saying Radcliffe’s death “is a true loss for our community.” He was then honored with a video montage about his life and mentorship at the news station. Dubbed the Iron Beam, the shield aims to use high-power lasers to counter an array of projectiles, including missiles, drones, rockets and mortars, Israel’s defense ministry said this week. “The initial capability of the ground-based laser system… is expected to enter operational service within one year,” he said.
