Washington in October temporarily lifted oil sanctions on the country as a way to encourage a presidential election in 2024, which prompted spot sales of Venezuelan crude and fuel oil to traders mostly bound for China. The stagnant production has driven PDVSA to offer trading houses and intermediaries a large portion of its oil stocks for exports. Besides seeking spot cash oil sales, PDVSA also has ramped up fuel imports since October.

All three upheavals were caused by the same group, Climate Defiance, which a now-30-year-old activist named Michael Greenberg founded in the spring. Mr. Greenberg had long worked in traditional climate advocacy, but he decided that something louder was needed to spur change at institutions like the Fed. “I realized there was a big need for disruptive direct action,” he explained in an interview. “It just gets so, so, so, so, so much more attention.”

The FEOC rules come into effect in 2024 for completed batteries and 2025 for critical minerals used to produce them. Treasury said the few materials being exempted each account for less than 2% of the value of battery critical minerals. The rules are expected to further reduce the number of electric vehicles eligible for EV tax credits. Earlier this year, new battery and mineral sourcing requirements took effect with price and buyer income eligibility caps from Jan. 1.

Popular apparel brand The North Face posted a crazy marketing stunt on TikTok recently. In a video, they delivered a rain jacket to a woman at the top of a mountain in New Zealand via helicopter. Jenn Jensen posted a TikTok video on November 17 showing herself on a hiking trail in the rain where she's soaked whilst wearing a rain jacket sporting The North Face logo. "I've got a bone to pick with North Face," Jensen says in the video which has racked up over 11 million views. "I bought this 'rain jacket' a couple of days ago and the tag for the advertising said that it's waterproof.
