Vice Media filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 15, leaving current and laid-off staffers anxious over what's next. One advertising source told Insider, "The bankruptcy has killed the ad pipeline." Employees who were laid off in recent weeks are demanding answers about how the company's bankruptcy will affect the terms of their departure. One of the former execs told Insider they were just keeping their fingers crossed that payments come through. A person close to the company said Vice Media intends to pay severance and COBRA, subject to court approval.

Vice, whose assets include Vice News, Vice TV, Refinery29 and Motherboard, has struggled for years to find growth. The company has been looking to sell itself, but a deal hasn’t materialized, The Wall Street Journal previously reported. Its chief executive, Nancy Dubuc, departed earlier this year, and last week the company announced it would be restructuring its news division, ending its Vice World News Tonight show and shutting down the Vice World News brand.

The bodies were found at a property in Henryetta, a city about 90 miles from Oklahoma City, authorities said. New York CNN —Vice Media will cancel its acclaimed program “Vice News Tonight” as part of a broad restructuring that will result in painful cuts across the organization, the company said Thursday. The restructuring will have major implications on news teams at Vice Media. The company will sunset the Vice World News brand and fold its operations under the Vice News umbrella, giving the company a singular news brand. The restructuring comes as Vice Media, once the darling of the industry, explores a sale. CNN, The Washington Post, NPR, Gannett, Vox Media, NBC News, and others have also cut their workforces in recent months.

The company is laying off about 180 people of its total base of 1,200 employees. Chief Revenue Officer Edgar Hernandez and Chief Operating Officer Christian Baesler are departing, BuzzFeed said.

But it wasn't until I started listening to the Reuters World News podcast that I truly felt like I was right there on the ground with their reporters. The sounds recorded by the journalists create a unique atmosphere that really helps to bring the stories to life. It's one thing to read about a conflict, but it's quite another to hear gunfire, explosions, and people shouting. I find myself feeling a greater sense of empathy and connection to the people affected by these events.
