"That is the purpose of what we are doing now inside the Gaza Strip. That is why the Israeli air force has been delivering significant amounts of ordinance of bombs on the Gaza Strip. Hours prior, the IDF told roughly 1.1 million people in northern Gaza to evacuate southwards of the Wadi Gaza wetlands. The instruction to evacuate has bolstered concerns that Israel, which has amassed forces on the border with Gaza, is preparing a ground incursion. "We understand that this will take time," Conricus said in the video update.

Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement exchanged fire on Monday evening after the Lebanese group said three of its members were killed in Israeli strikes earlier in the day, heightening fears of a wider regional war. Hezbollah said it shelled a pair of Israeli military installations in response to the killing of its fighters in Israeli attacks. Israel’s military confirmed strikes from Lebanon and said it responded with artillery fire. Earlier on Monday the Israeli air force said it launched strikes on a village inside Lebanon in response to an incursion by armed people who crossed into Israel. Israeli forces killed an unspecified number of suspects during the incident, the military said.

A video of an Israeli airstrike on the Gaza strip in May 2023 has been mislabeled on social media as showing a retaliatory strike to a surprise attack on Oct. 7 by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas. The Iran-backed Hamas group on Oct. 7 carried out its biggest attack on Israel in years, killing at least 100 Israelis, Reuters reported. However, the video of the explosion predates the October 2023 attack by several months. Israel and the militant Islamic Jihad group in Gaza exchanged rocket fire in May 2023, until a ceasefire agreement was brokered by Egypt on May 14. The video shows airstrikes in Gaza in May 2023 and predates the Oct.7 attacks.

Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, killing at least 70 people. Critics have long been warning of a security lapse as a result of internal civil unrest in Israel. They warned that protests linked to judicial reforms were impacting Israeli national security. Netanyahu's judicial reforms, which were proposed in January and eventually passed in July, seek to limit the Supreme Court's power to exercise judicial review and declare legislation unconstitutional. "This is a clear, immediate, and real danger to Israel's security," Gallant said at the time.

Businesses are paying for extreme leadership trainings, including "Top Gun"-style flight simulations, The New York Times reported. "Unique and challenging activities can help bridge the gaps that hybrid and remote work cause," Kobi Regev, CEO of management-training company The Squadron, told Insider over email. Workshops begin at $390 a person, and prices vary based on duration, group size, and customer needs, a spokesperson for the Squadron told Insider. "NASCAR pit stops are a very simple process that must be performed in a specific order," Papathanassiou told Insider over email. The threat is unprecedented in its scope, experts say, and the military has pleaded with reservists to remain in their posts. Members of Israeli security forces guard the al-Aqsa Mosque compound following clashes that erupted during Islam's holy fasting month of Ramadan in Jerusalem on April 5. Nearly 10,000 military reservists said before the passage of the controversial “reasonableness” bill on Monday that they would refuse to volunteer for duty if it was passed. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke by phone with Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant and reiterated the US’ commitment to Israel’s security. “He (Netanyahu) is willing to pay any price to move forward with this.”Golov sees reservists threatening not to serve as a sign of something much bigger.

Jerusalem CNN —A huge firefight erupted between Israeli military forces and Palestinian militants in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin Monday, leaving at least three Palestinians dead, authorities said. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said of the three dead, one was a teenager and more than two dozen were wounded in the clashes. Israeli Air Force attack helicopters opened fire from the skies over Jenin to help Israeli troops leave the city, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said. If Kyiv's air forces get the jet as expected, they won't be able to fly them directly at Russian defenses. "And nobody's advocating for that," an air power expert told Insider. Regardless of which jet Ukraine gets, putting fourth-generation air power like the F-16 into a high-intensity conflict is "high risk," Birkey said. "I've told the army that if the judicial reform passes (in parliament) I won't continue to come," Colonel N told Reuters, asking not to be further identified. Most Israelis are conscripted into the military for 2-3 years, and some continue as reservists into middle age. While reservists have helped Israel prevail in a string of wars, the army has relied recently on standing forces. 'HUGE DAMAGE'Experts warn the Israeli military could be weakened by reservists rejecting call-ups. "This definitely inflicts huge damage on the capability and capacity of the Israeli forces," Israel Ziv, a former head of army operations, told Reuters.
Hours earlier, Israeli forces killed three Islamic Jihad gunmen in the West Bank, among territories that have seen simmering violence amid the Palestinians' long-stalled goal of statehood. "We’re especially disturbed by violence by settlers against Palestinians," Austin said, adding that his discussions were frank and candid. Austin had originally been due to arrive on Wednesday and stay overnight in Tel Aviv, where Israel's Defence Ministry is based. FLASHPOINTSAmong West Bank flashpoints concerning the United States is the village of Huwara, where the Feb. 26 killing by a Palestinian gunman of two brothers from a Jewish settlement triggered revenge riots by settlers. The rampage triggered worldwide outrage and condemnation, which increased when ultra-nationalist Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who has responsibility for aspects of the West Bank administration, said Huwara should be "erased".
JERUSALEM, March 9 (Reuters) - The Israeli air force said on Thursday that it had dismissed a reservist officer in the military for trying to orchestrate group walkouts from training flights as part of a spreading protest at judicial reforms planned by the government. Separately, air force chief Major-General Tomer Bar said the colonel "took upon himself inappropriate authority in his contact with the IAF pilots. Netanyahu says this will restore balance between branches of government but critics see it as an effort to hollow out judicial independence. The protest in the ranks jarred Israelis, who see their conscript-based military as a melting-pot that should be kept free of politics. Air force crews in the reserves take part in training as volunteers, without a legal obligation to attend.
