Commissioner Adam Silver on Tuesday defended the unusual disciplinary approach for forward Miles Bridges, who was suspended for 30 games for domestic violence but will miss just 10 games in which he is eligible to play. He pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge in November, but it wasn’t until April 14, after a league investigation, that the N.B.A. announced his punishment: a 30-game suspension, with credit for 20 games because he did not play this season. On Tuesday, Silver said the league and Bridges had a “mutual agreement” that he would not play during the 2022-23 season — though Silver was careful to say that Bridges was not suspended. Silver said crediting Bridges for 20 games toward the penalty seemed like the right thing to do because he missed a year of income and N.B.A.

April 14 (Reuters) - The National Basketball Association (NBA) has suspended former Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges 30 games without pay as a result of a domestic violence incident involving the mother of his children, the league said on Friday. The incident occurred last June in Los Angeles, after which Bridges was arrested and charged with multiple offenses. Bridges entered a plea of no contest to a felony domestic violence charge and the remaining counts against him were dismissed. Following his arrest and plea, Bridges did not sign an NBA contract for the ongoing 2022-23 season, missing all 82 games. The NBA conducted its own investigation, interviewing Bridges, the mother of his children, numerous third-party witnesses and also consulted with domestic violence experts.

PETA accused Suree and Aroy-D, HelloFresh's former coconut milk suppliers, of keeping monkeys chained on dirt patches with no protection from the elements. Major retailers, including Walmart, Target, and Costco, have already stopped selling coconut milk from certain Thai suppliers, but HelloFresh's move goes one step further, banning all coconut milk exports from the country.
