Read previewOn Tuesday, Elon Musk's X fulfilled his promise to sue advertisers over their boycotting of the platform. GARM creates frameworks to provide common definitions around areas like hate speech and misinformation; it's voluntary whether advertisers use them. It doesn't rank platforms on these issues, and its role isn't to advise advertisers on where to spend their dollars. US advertisers are also protected by the First Amendment to spend or not spend on whichever media platforms they please. If the X suit moves into the discovery phase, there could be a whole lot more.

Following the trade, Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust will own 400 shares of PG, decreasing its weighting in the portfolio to 2.15% from 2.4%. Ever since earnings, P & G has stormed back despite the market volatility. The move here has been based on investors buying quality safety stocks like P & G out of fear of a growth scare in the U.S. economy. We always say there's room in any portfolio for a defensive dividend aristocrat like Procter & Gamble, and the market's recent stretch of turbulence proved its purpose. Jim waits 45 minutes after sending a trade alert before buying or selling a stock in his charitable trust's portfolio.

Reduce the globe's reliance on fossil fuels by building out new supply chains and developing sustainable products that are just as effective – if not better – than competitors. With nearly three-fourths of the S & P 500 reporting second-quarter results, the earnings picture for the back half of the year is looking unusually complicated. It's been a 'meh' quarter so far We have the usual beat on bottom-line earnings, but revenue beats are below expectations. Most companies are beating on earnings estimates but are declining to hike full-year guidance beyond the beat. Plenty of complaints about a slowing China consumer A weak China economy has been a significant headwind for a number of global companies this season. Procter & Gamble's China sales tumbled 8% from a year ago as consumer spending slowed.

It is a question based on recent market behavior, corporate profit reports and prospective economic policy changes at home and abroad. It suggests that declining inflation and economic weakness may well be in our future. Recent U.S. economic data has been unexpectedly steady, with recent growth pegged at an annual rate of 2.8% in the second quarter. Unemployment data flashes a warning sign The unemployment rate remains low at 4.1% as of June, but it has risen from 3.7% back in January . Some economists argue that an increase of half a percentage point in the unemployment rate, off the lows, is a precursor to a recession.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Tuesday suggested that the market is being brought down by some companies with business in China. "If you own stock in a company that expanded heavily into China, it's being killed right now," he said. But he said companies that rely on China for growth are having a particularly tough time on the market. He listed several companies whose business in China is lagging, including Procter & Gamble , Estee Lauder , Nike and Starbucks . According to Cramer, a reason smaller cap stocks are doing well is because, for the most part, they don't do a lot of business with China.

Procter & Gamble on Tuesday reported mixed quarterly results, but the company's volume increased for the first time in more than two years. Volume excludes pricing, making the metric a more accurate reflection of demand than sales. Over the last several years, P&G's price hikes across its portfolio, from diapers to detergent, fueled its sales growth, but volume flattened or even declined as consumers bought less of its products. All three of those segments reported 2% volume growth for the quarter. For fiscal 2025, P&G anticipates core net earnings per share in a range of $6.91 to $7.05.

Despite that, P & G had a spotty quarter, which could give fuel to investors worried that a deterioration in the consumer would make its guidance harder to achieve. Nevertheless, P & G still fills an important role in a diversified portfolio, and its business is on solid footing. That includes North America, where organic sales grew 4%, and Europe, where organic sales increased 2% despite a difficult 12% comparison in the year-ago period. That helps explain how you get organic sales in China down 9%, albeit a slight sequential improvement from the 10% drop in the third quarter. It saw a mid-single digit decrease in organic sales because of market-share losses for its Luvs diapers.

Montaque cofounded Group Black in 2021 with the goal of directing $500 million in advertising money to Black-owned media in its first 18 months. With the pledge, Group Black laid out a plan to steer money to Black media owners and acquire media companies.
