Israel openly said it conducted “precise strikes” on military targets in Iran. “Israel now has broader aerial freedom of operation in Iran,” Israel’s military spokesman Daniel Hagari said, touting achievements in the attack. The idea was that if Israel were to strike Iran, Tehran would retaliate by unleashing its militias against Israel. Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that they have no intention of weaponizing the country’s nuclear program, while simultaneously using its potential as leverage in negotiations with the West. “Even the more hawkish American presidents have not favored taking military strikes because the most likely outcome is that, at some point, that will make Iran turn nuclear,” Parsi said.

In North Carolina, the signs read in Spanish, “WARNING: if you are not a citizen of the United States of America, you cannot vote in elections. Earlier this week, Forward Justice addressed a letter to the North Carolina State Board of Elections, calling for the signs to be removed because they constitute "unlawful voter intimidation." The letter was co-signed by nearly two dozen organizations, including the North Carolina chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. It’s already illegal for noncitizens to vote in elections in North Carolina and at the federal level — and illegal voting rarely happens. Early voting in North Carolina ends on Nov. 2.

Among these voters, Harris gets a boost because they believe she would protect abortion rights, and some have broader hopes that electing the first female president could send a strong message to the country. Across the last three polls, Trump led Harris 50%-40% among those who were confirmed not to have voted in 2022 or 2020. On the panels, all three of the voters leaning Harris’ way were women who, in part, said they connected with her on an emotional level. She framed her vote as “less of a vote for her and more of a vote against Trump,” and she added that she never gave voting for Trump serious thought. She’s caught between a fear of choosing the wrong candidate and the “guilt” she feels after having sat out 2020.

CNN —Vice President Kamala Harris will give a speech on reproductive freedom in Texas on Friday, according to a senior Harris campaign official. And Texas was chosen as the location for the rally, campaign officials said, because it’s the epicenter of abortion bans. Before her ascension to the top of the Democratic ticket, Harris was the go-to voice on abortion rights for the then-Biden campaign. The trigger law passed in 2021 took effect after the Supreme Court overturned federal abortion rights in June 2022. While in Houston, Harris will join Democratic Senate nominee Rep. But the unspeakable violence inflicted on this community has spurred a very public purpose for the family: bringing awareness to traumatic brain injuries among military members and a call to action for continued research. Other family members also alerted local law enforcement, which visited Card's home in the weeks before the shooting but did not make contact. Maine's medical examiner requested a postmortem study of Card's brain, which was conducted by the Boston University CTE Center. Through Card's brain being examined after his death, Herling learned about so-called brain banks, a collection of donated brain tissue used for research and education.
