Lamar posted an untitled song to his Instagram Reels without a caption on Tuesday evening. Lamar similarly released one of his diss tracks against Drake, “6:16 in L.A.,” on Instagram only. Lamar was embroiled in a monthslong feud with Drake that produced nine diss tracks between the two rappers. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was one of the top songs of the summer, according to the outlet’s summer songs chart.

CNN —A federal judge made way on Thursday for legal political gambling in the United States, rejecting a federal watchdog’s last-minute effort to delay a prediction market from offering bets on the November elections. She also denied a request by the government during Thursday’s hearing to block Kalshi from offering contracts pending its appeal. The CFTC has argued that the contracts count as illegal gambling and that it doesn’t have the resources to monitor them. Its chairman, Rostin Behnam, has also warned that election contracts would “ultimately commoditize and degrade the integrity” the electoral process. Luana Lopes Lara, a co-founder of Kalshi, celebrated the decision on Thursday, writing on X, “WE’RE LIVE.” The CFTC declined to comment.

Americans reported losing $5.6 billion to cryptocurrency scams in 2023, with older Americans hit the hardest, according to the FBI. Americans 60 years old and older filed more than 16,000 complaints of cryptocurrency fraud and reported losing over $1.6 billion, much more than any other age group. The reported scams ranged from phony tech support help and extortion to scammers impersonating government officials. The vast majority of reported losses — almost $4 billion — were a result of investment scams, a category that the FBI uses primarily to refer to so-called pig butchering scams. Last year, a United Nations report found that pig butchering scams are often run by human trafficking victims in Southeast Asia.

Edgar Bronfman Jr. walked away from his bid for Paramount after the company's special committee demanded his consortium submit a final offer Monday, according to people familiar with the matter. Bronfman dropped his 11th hour bid just a week after the media executive made an initial offer of $4.3 billion for Shari Redstone's National Amusements, the controlling shareholder of Paramount. Bronfman said last week in a letter to the Paramount special committee that he had rounded up 19 financial backers, as first reported by The Wall Street Journal. Spokespeople for Bronfman, Skydance and the Paramount special committee declined to comment. The special committee said late Monday the go-shop period was now over.

Senior officials from Israel, Egypt, Qatar and the United States met in Rome on Sunday to continue negotiations over a cease-fire in Gaza, according to three officials involved in or briefed on the talks and a statement from the Israeli government. The talks came as tensions mounted in the region amid growing violence along the border between Israel and Lebanon. Qatar hosts part of the Hamas leadership and, along with Egypt, plays a key role in mediating between the two sides. The statement did not give further details. Despite progress in recent weeks, the monthslong negotiations remain stalled over several key issues, particularly the extent to which Israeli forces would remain in Gaza during a truce, according to seven officials involved in or briefed on the talks.

China engaged in a monthslong drumbeat of anticipation that a Communist Party leaders’ meeting would show the way to a new era of growth for the slowing economy. The outcome was a plan released on Sunday offering more than 300 steps on everything from taxes to religion. Many economists had called for a comprehensive effort to rebalance the Chinese economy away from investment and toward consumer spending. The party promised to “promote the development of strategic industries” in eight sectors, from renewable energy to aerospace. Those were essentially the same industries as in the country’s decade-old Made in China 2025 plan to replace imports of high-tech goods with locally produced products, as part of a national push for self-reliance.
