There's nothing like a moribund IPO market to create a pleasant backdrop for a bull run. Hot on the heels of the Reddit deal is the expiration of the IPO lockup period for Arm Holdings on March 12. I thought it might occur after the successful Arm deal, but like so many nascent attempts to revive the IPO market there was nothing worth following up with until the Reddit deal. This brings me back to the IPO market. As a subscriber to the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer, you will receive a trade alert before Jim makes a trade.

Arm shares soared 29% on Monday, extending last week's rally as investors continue to applaud the chipmaker's better-than-expected third-quarter earnings and its position in the artificial intelligence boom. Arm is now up 93% since it reported quarterly financials on Feb. 8, though without any clear catalyst for Monday's move. Last week, Arm said it could charge twice as much for its latest instruction set, which accounts for 15% of the company's royalties, suggesting it can expand its margin and make more money off new chips. Its royalty strength combined with Arm's optimistic growth forecast has made the company the latest AI darling among investors, despite a higher earnings multiple than Nvidia or AMD. For the second time in three trading sessions, Arm's daily volume exceeded 100 million shares, or more than 10 times the average for the stock .

NEW DELHI (AP) — Indian police cleared a suspected Chinese spy pigeon after eight months' detention and released it into the wild Tuesday, news agency Press Trust of India reported. Police suspected it was involved in espionage and took it in, later sending it to Mumbai's Bai Sakarbai Dinshaw Petit Hospital for Animals. Eventually, it turned out the pigeon was an open-water racing bird from Taiwan that had escaped and made its way to India. It is not the first time a bird has come under police suspicion in India. In 2016, another pigeon was taken into custody after it was found with a note that threatened Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

An investor reacts as she views the stock index at a securities company on May 30, 2007 in Shanghai, China. The CSRC added that the move would "resolutely" crack down on illegal activities that use securities lending to reduce holdings and cash out. The regulator also said it will limit the efficiency of some securities lending in the securities refinancing market from March 18. Last October, the CSRC restricted securities lending businesses and tightened scrutiny of improper regulatory arbitrage by imposing higher margin requirements. Both Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges said they will suspend securities lending by strategic investors during lockup periods, effective from Jan. 29.

Defense lawyers estimated that they would question him for about five hours after brief testimony from two other witnesses. After prosecutors rested Thursday, defense lawyers immediately asked Judge Lewis A. Kaplan to acquit Bankman-Fried on the grounds that prosecutors had failed to present sufficient evidence. Bankman-Fried was arrested in the Bahamas and extradited to the United States last December, a month after his businesses collapsed. Kaplan revoked the bail in August after concluding that Bankman-Fried had tried to influence potential trial witnesses. Cava has strong growth potential, and Morgan Stanley thinks investors need to capitalize on it. The bank upgraded shares of the fast-casual chain to overweight from equal weight. It decreased its price target to $41 from $45, but the updated forecast still implies upside of nearly 28%. Harbour pointed to Cava's strong fundamentals as a catalyst, specifically the restaurant chain's "best-in-class" store margins that still have upside potential. The analyst also highlighted Cava's strong self-funded net unit growth — which has a 15% target — and expects growth in both traffic and sales to continue this year.

However, some investors who would like to get immediate exposure to the Arm IPO through ETFs may be disappointed. The first problem is that Arm is not a U.S. company, it's British — which generally would exclude it from the S&P indexes. Hong Kong CNN —Shares of VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle maker that went public in a red-hot Wall Street debut last week, enjoyed another stunning rally again Tuesday. The strong market performance could make it easier for VinFast to raise more money from investors, a move CEO Thuy Le told CNN the company was considering. A similar story played out last week, when VinFast began trading on the Nasdaq. Public trading of VinFast (VFS) is based on razor-thin volumes — just 1% of the shares, which means price moves can be extremely volatile. On Tuesday, VinFast was one of the top trending companies and “most watched” stocks on Stocktwits, a social network for investors.

If New York City officials feel any urgency about fixing the persistent problems at the Rikers Island jail complex, they are not showing it, according to a report filed on Monday by the federal official appointed to monitor the lockup. The monitor, Steve J. Martin, writes in the report that the city Correction Department’s most recent efforts toward improving conditions at the Rikers complex have been “haphazard, tepid and insubstantial.”In describing the dysfunction that has come to define the jails, Mr. Martin detailed two episodes that occurred at Rikers in the past several months. One involved a correction officer who stood by as a group of detainees assaulted a man in their unit. The other involved detainees who were pepper sprayed for no reason during an unofficial “hostage drill.”The report’s findings are striking given the increasing possibility that the city could be forced to relinquish at least some control over its jails, which have been troubled for decades and plunged into their latest crisis in March 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic. A hearing on the future stewardship of the jails is scheduled for Wednesday.
