Oracle could see more pain ahead, even when accounting for Tuesday's slide, according to JPMorgan. Analyst Mark Murphy downgraded the cloud stock to neutral from overweight and cut his price target by $12 to $100. Oracle offered mixed results for its fiscal first quarter Monday, with the company missing consensus expectations of analysts polled by LSEG for revenue despite beating on earnings per share. Oracle now also has raised concerns about its ability to execute on a data center buildout that could hamper cloud growth. And though there's reasons to be excited about AI, he did note a survey of CIOs left "room for improvement."

A select group of our Club holdings have recently demonstrated durable pricing power to protect profits during what continues to be a high inflation environment. For companies, elevated inflation means higher input costs — higher costs on the goods and services required to run their businesses. In a recent note, UBS acknowledged, "Inflation may trend back toward the Fed's target sooner than expected reducing the relative advantage of companies with pricing power." In fact, UBS believes that "companies with pricing power have the potential to outperform the broader market in the months ahead." Microsoft's pricing power comes down to the simple fact that they have positioned themselves as a core backbone of global productivity.

Nearly three months after Nvidia shocked Wall Street with blowout earnings and forecast thanks to accelerating AI demand , analysts are still going crazy for the chipmaker. Raymond James analyst Srini Pajjuri said that tight supply issues could limit the near-term upside for Nvidia but that the generative AI story remains intact. He also called the steep valuation justified given the Jensen Huang -led company's dominance in AI and machine learning. Its latest environmental report shows a 20% jump in water consumption in its data centers. Google just published its 2023 environmental report, and one thing is for certain: The company's water use is soaring. The numbers provide a stark reminder of the environmental cost of running huge data centers, which often require vast amounts of water to stay cool. The majority of the water Google is consuming right now is "potable," clean enough to be used as drinking water. In its latest report, Google said it takes "local water stress" (another way of saying scarcity) into account, and said 82% of its freshwater withdrawals in 2022 came from regions with low water stress.

Nvidia downplays possible U.S. chip export restrictions
  + stars: | 2023-06-28 | by ( Kif Leswing | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +2 min
Nvidia CFO Colette Kress downplayed the effect of the potential export restrictions at a financial conference on Wednesday, saying that they would not have an "immediate financial impact" but that further restrictions could hurt the company's growth in the future. "We are aware of reports that the U.S. Department of Commerce is considering further controls that may restrict exports of A800 and our H800 products to China," Kress said, referring to the company's chips. And the impact on our future business and financial results is there," Kress continued. Nvidia is the leader in the parts needed to build advanced AI systems, and AI engineers covet the company's A100 and new H100 chips. But according to the Journal, new Commerce Department limits could restrict the export of even those chips.
