A lawsuit by the Philadelphia DA could stop Elon Musk's $1M-a-day voter giveaway as early as Friday. Musk has used the lottery to encourage voter registration and push swing-staters to the polls. Krasner's lawsuit says the giveaway is an unregulated lottery that violates Pennsylvania law. The DOJ did send a letter to America PAC warning that the giveaway might be illegal, a development first reported by 24sight News. America PAC did not announce a winner on Wednesday after the warning letter became public but has resumed announcements.

In three instances in the last month, Musk's posts highlighting election misinformation have been viewed over 200 times more than fact-checking posts correcting those claims that have been published on X by government officials or accounts. Among these voters, Harris gets a boost because they believe she would protect abortion rights, and some have broader hopes that electing the first female president could send a strong message to the country. Across the last three polls, Trump led Harris 50%-40% among those who were confirmed not to have voted in 2022 or 2020. On the panels, all three of the voters leaning Harris’ way were women who, in part, said they connected with her on an emotional level. She framed her vote as “less of a vote for her and more of a vote against Trump,” and she added that she never gave voting for Trump serious thought. She’s caught between a fear of choosing the wrong candidate and the “guilt” she feels after having sat out 2020.

And among young voters who say they will vote in the presidential election in November, Harris leads 56%-36%, a 20-point advantage. Young women said they’ll vote for Harris over Trump by a 33-point margin. The gender differences splashed across the issues young voters say are most important to their vote. Roughly a third of young voters said they’ll pay attention to endorsements by political leaders (38%) and organizations to which they belong (31%). One-third of young voters have a positive view of Trump’s VP pick, JD Vance, and 45% have a negative view of him.

In a case separate from the hush money trial, Daniels was ordered to pay for Trump’s legal fees after she lost a defamation suit she filed against him. Daniels’ lawyer declined the proposal, Maddow reported. Daniels’ lawyer told MSNBC that they ultimately settled on $627,500 but she did not agree to remain silent. In May, Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to hush money paid to Daniels. Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen made payments to Daniels in the final stretch of the 2016 presidential campaign.

US efforts to produce semiconductor chips will continue regardless of who wins the election. The US has seen its share of overall chip production fall from 37% of the world's supply in 1990 to 12%. While many factories remain under construction, the federal funding has already helped boost US chip production. According to a report published last year by the trade and lobbying group Semiconductor Industry Association and Oxford Economics, the US semiconductor industry will face a shortage of 67,000 workers by 2030, including technicians, computer scientists, and engineers.

In the end, on Wednesday, both Harris and Fox News probably got what they wanted. But before the interview, Harris spokesman Ian Sams explained her thinking. If only a few thousand Fox viewers or traditional conservatives swapped sides, it could push some swing states in the vice president’s direction. Still, the risk for Harris is that her display in her first formal Fox interview could alienate some of those voters. WASHINGTON — A team of federal prosecutors led by special counsel Jack Smith said in a filing Wednesday that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump bears responsibility for the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. In a filing responding to Trump's attempt to dismiss the case, Smith's team said it "is incorrect" for Trump's team to assert that the superseding indictment returned against Trump in August does not show that Trump bears responsibility for the events of Jan. 6. "Those allegations link the defendant’s actions on January 6 directly to his efforts to corruptly obstruct the certification proceeding," Smith's team wrote. The latest filing comes after the Supreme Court's decision on presidential immunity gutted part of Smith's case against Trump.

Part of the shift is demographic: Over the past few decades, the number of single women in America has skyrocketed. In 2023, there were 43 million single women living in the US, a 55% increase since 2000. Single women are older, more educated, and more financially independent than they were a generation earlier.
