The conservative shift comes as streamers try to make every dollar count but face cultural hurdles. The Prime Video series will be the first to come out of Amazon's deal with The Wonder Project, a Christian-focused production company for faith-based films and TV shows. In this newly conservative greenlighting era, buyers are looking around for sure things and pockets of audiences where there's opportunity. "Conservative, faith-based, family, is not a bad place to look," Thompson said. That's for good reason: An Apple TV set didn't make sense years ago. But in theory, if that goes well, then maybe Apple will be more interested in chasing an Actual TV Set. Apple still sells a dedicated Apple TV box, which you can plug into any TV to transform it into an "Apple TV." AdvertisementYou can debate whether Apple TV+ is actually successful — its movie strategy seems … challenged — but it at least makes sense strategically: Apple TV+ is supposed to generate recurring monthly revenue, and Apple is all about recurring monthly revenue as part of its "services" push. A TV set — even the most awesome TV set — would be a one-and-done proposition for Apple.

But price rises in Russia are eye-watering by comparison – and just one symptom of an economy that is overheating. “Prices are rising because of the war,” Alexandra Prokopenko at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center in Berlin told CNN. The military budget will rise by nearly a quarter in 2025, amounting to one-third of all state spending and 6.3 per cent of gross domestic product. Analysts don’t see the Russian economy as tumbling over a precipice but instead as a slowly gathering crisis. Russia has traditionally turned to central Asia for unskilled labor, and Putin recently suggested more foreign workers are needed.

A defamation case against Kari Lake brought by Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer has been settled, representatives for both parties confirmed Sunday to NBC News. Richer, a Republican, filed a claim in June 2023 saying that Lake falsely accused him of "intentionally sabotaging the election" after she lost the 2022 Arizona governor's race. Richer sought nominal, compensatory and punitive damages in unspecified amounts. "We are pleased" the case has been settled, Lake’s lawyer Dennis Wilenchik said, noting that the settlement's terms "are confidential." After the election, Lake falsely accused Richer of having "sabotaged" Election Day.

Steve Spagnuolo’s Chiefs defense entered Week 11 ranked fourth in DVOA, a gargantuan factor in Kansas City being so lucky to remain undefeated until Sunday. It took a heroic effort for Allen to snap the 30-game streak for the Chiefs’ defense, which has been the better unit on the roster in the past two seasons. A convicted identity thief who admitted to posing as a nurse in Virginia nearly a decade ago is accused of impersonating nurses in at least two hospitals in Southern California this year, authorities said. Porter, who does not have a nursing license, was charged with identity theft, false impersonation and grand theft, the department said. Prior to her arrest in that case, the department said, Porter was in custody over similar allegations linked to a hospital in nearby Santa Clarita, California. During her first five shifts at the hospital, she was under the supervision of a training nurse, the facility said. The hospital added that Porter, who is not named in the hospital's statement, was under the supervision of a nurse and there was no indication of compromised care.

Under a 25% tariff on goods from China, the Wall Street investment bank sees an EPS loss for Apple of 9.2%. Those estimates make Apple the fifth most vulnerable tech company to potential tariffs on goods from China in Morgan Stanley's research coverage. Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan agrees, seeing any tariff impact as "manageable." He sees a 60% tariff on Chinese goods possibly resulting in about a 4% hit to Apple's EPS. By contrast, Dell – which he noted looks positioned to be "most vulnerable" to tariffs – could see an EPS impact of up to about 90%, according to his model.
