Costco on Thursday missed Wall Street's revenue expectations for its holiday quarter, despite reporting year-over-year sales growth and strong e-commerce gains. Costco's revenue for the quarter increased from $55.27 billion in the year-ago period. Fresh foods were up high single digits and nonfoods were up mid single digits. Ancillary businesses, which includes more service-related purchases like travel, were up by low single digits, he said. Abercrombie & Fitch said Wednesday that its holiday-quarter sales jumped 21% and its profits grew thanks to higher prices and lower raw material costs. For the current quarter, Abercrombie expects sales to rise by a low double digit percentage, compared to estimates of up 7.2%, according to LSEG. CrowdStrike shares surged as much as 21% in after-hours trading Tuesday, after the cybersecurity company reported a beat on the top and bottom lines, and issued stronger than expected guidance for the upcoming quarter and full year. CrowdStrike has now reported GAAP net income for the last four quarters, CFO Burt Podbere said in the earnings release. "CrowdStrike is cybersecurity's consolidator of choice, innovator of choice, and platform of choice to stop breaches," co-founder and CEO George Kurtz said in a release. The company also guided to fiscal first-quarter revenues between $902 million and $906 million, better than a consensus estimate of $899 million. CrowdStrike also expects EPS for the period between 89 to 90 cents, better than the 82 cent consensus estimate.

Nordstrom's holiday-quarter sales topped Wall Street's expectations on Tuesday, but the retailer gave a muted outlook for the year ahead. Nordstrom said it expects earnings per share of between $1.65 and $2.05 for the full year. That would be higher than its most recent fiscal year, which saw earnings per share of $1.51, the retailer said Tuesday. In the fiscal quarter that ended Feb. 3, Nordstrom's quarterly revenue rose about 2% from $4.32 billion in the year-ago period. American Airlines said Monday that 80% of its revenue this year will come from loyalty program members and passengers in premium cabins like business class, up from 70% in 2017. American and other carriers have poured billions of dollars into new cabins, lounges and onboard upgrades to cater to high-spending travelers. Birkenstock on Thursday beat holiday quarter revenue expectations, reporting a 26% year-on-year jump, as the German sandal company benefited from higher pricing and rising U.S. demand. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 12% year-on-year to 81 million euros, with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 26.9%, down from 29.1% a year earlier. "However, in the medium-term, we are confident we will continue to deliver our objectives of a gross profit margin over 60% and an adjusted EBITDA margin in the low thirties percent."
