The deal is subject to subject to regulatory approval from the EPL, the Football Association, and Britain’s Financial Conduct Authority. Emmanuel-Thomas – who also used to feature for current Premier League side Ipswich Town – currently plays for Scottish second-tier club, Greenock Morton. CNN has contacted Emmanuel-Thomas and Greenock Morton for comment. The NCA said Emmanuel-Thomas was taken to Carlisle in England to be questioned. His bail was refused and he will next appear in Carlisle Crown Court on October 18.

CNN —Since joining Manchester City, Erling Haaland has broken record after record, setting expectations for himself that are seemingly impossible to reach. Yet, somehow, he has continued breaking records this season, scoring nine goals in just four Premier League games – the most prolific start to a season ever, surpassing the previous best of eight set by Wayne Rooney. Haaland has been so dominant this season that his individual total of nine goals is more than any Premier League team, except his own Manchester City, has managed between them. And, on Saturday, only the width of a goalpost denied the Norwegian star an unprecedented run of hattricks in three consecutive Premier League games. In May 2023, Guardiola said: “What I would like is that the Premier League or the judges could make [a decision] as soon as possible. CNN —Former Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy says the Red Devils can finish in the top four this season, but are still behind the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool in the English Premier League (EPL) title race. But in the league last season, United languished in eighth position, the club’s worst ever finish in the Premier League era and nowhere near the qualification spots for the lucrative Champions League. Since McCarthy left ahead of the new season, United has lost two of its first three league games. Speaking to CNN Sport, though, McCarthy remained optimistic about the Red Devils and stressed that opponents may regret overlooking the 13-time Premier League winners.
