ESPN President Jimmy Pitaro , who I spoke with this week in an exclusive interview, doesn't shy away from that. Other media companies buy sports rights too, but ESPN buys more, and its entire existence is predicated on it. Yes, ESPN+ has existed since 2018, but ESPN+ has always been ESPN Lite, as I discussed in a CNBC documentary we put out earlier this year. "If that deal delivers for us in terms of growing our ratings, growing our reach – we got Flagship rights. An Alabama man was sentenced Tuesday to one year and nine months in prison for threatening a sheriff and a district attorney in Georgia over the jail mug shot of former President Donald Trump, prosecutors said. Hanson also threatened District Attorney Fani Willis, saying that if Trump was indicted, "anytime you’re alone, be looking over your shoulder." Hanson made the threats in two voicemails left for Labat and Willis on Aug. 6, 2023, before Trump was indicted or his mug shot was taken. A Fulton County grand jury indicted Trump and 18 other people last year on state charges related to efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia, an election that Trump lost. Trump was indicted on Aug. 14, 2023, and 10 days later, he surrendered to the Fulton County Jail and his mug shot was released publicly.

The lead-up to the Nov. 5 NFL trade deadline has already featured a good deal of action, as wide receivers Davante Adams, Amari Cooper, DeAndre Hopkins and Diontae Johnson all changed addresses within the last two weeks. Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs added pass rusher Josh Uche via trade with the New England Patriots to further bolster their defense. The Miami Heat honored Dwyane Wade by unveiling a statue of the basketball legend outside the Kaseya Center in Miami, sealing his legacy with the team and making him the first Heat player with a statue outside the arena. In comments after the unveiling, Wade said he never expected this moment. “The Miami Heat should’ve had a contest where they showed this picture to 1,000 fans — and anyone who guesses it’s Dwyane Wade gets to keep the statue,” Jeff Darlington, a reporter for ESPN, joked on X. Wade is one of two players to have been on all three Miami Heat teams that won NBA championships, according to the NBA. Editor’s Note: Sign up for Unlocking the World, CNN Travel’s weekly newsletter. There’s a not-very-flattering term for those exhibiting the behavior: “gate lice.”It might feel harmless, but swarming the gate can lead to congestion, confusion and longer wait times. To tackle the problem, American Airlines is trialing new technology at airports in New Mexico, Arizona and Virginia. Passengers who attempt to board before their assigned group is called will set off an error beep, alerting the gate agent — and also rule-abiding fellow passengers. Of course, you might prefer to organize your trip around another list that dropped this week: the world’s best bars for 2024.

And how should investors be thinking about future equity returns as the bull market enters its third year riding stellar multi-year performance and facing demanding valuations? So, expansionary policies that would quicken the economy's metabolism and produce more inflation was exactly what the market craved then – but now? Right now, the S & P 500 is up 42% from 18 months ago and fetches 22-times expected earnings. No reliable augurs of a coming bear market are in evidence: S & P up 10 of 11 months, making a new high in September, credit spreads resolutely narrow, all point to an upside bias over a span of months, at least. .SPX YTD mountain S & P 500, YTD Which leaves the question of just how much upside, if any, a bull should reasonably expect from here.

“We could fit into a phone booth, those of us who cared about election integrity,” Mitchell has said. Mitchell volunteered as a legal adviser to Trump in Georgia during his effort to overturn the 2020 election results. In 2022, tax filings show the Election Integrity Network brought in more than $750,000, largely from the Conservative Partnership Institute. Mitchell testified at a House Judiciary hearing, an appearance the Election Integrity Network turned into an advertisement. The bill’s failure was a blow, but far from fatal for Only Citizens Vote and the cottage industry of national MAGA groups that rally under the “election integrity” banner.

Ukraine has released a video it says shows North Korean troops in Russia. AdvertisementA new video released by the Ukrainian government's Center for Strategic Communication and Information Security appears to show North Korean soldiers at a Russian military base. Exclusive - Newly obtained footage from Russia's Sergievsky Training Ground showing North Korean troops being outfitted in Russian gear in preparation for deployment to Ukraine. AdvertisementThe NIS said that North Korean soldiers were being transported from the North on Russian navy ships and that around 1,500 North Korean special forces troops were already in Russia. Should North Korean troops' involvement in the conflict be confirmed, it would mark North Korea's first major involvement in a war since the Korean War in 1950-1953.

More significant to the political dynamics at play, however, is how the civilian overseas vote has eclipsed military voters abroad. “As it turns out, there are more overseas civilian voters than there are military voters,” said Michael McDonald, a University of Florida political science professor. GOP congressmen suing their own stateIn the Pennsylvania case, the dispute is over how overseas ballots are being vetted. Democrats, who intervened in the case, argue that the Republican lawmakers’ request could disenfranchise “tens of thousands” of overseas voters, including those in uniform. “Our lawsuit does not in any way affect military voters’ right to vote, which is protected by federal law under UOCAVA.
