Yet right from the gun, Richardson was forced to play catch-up to Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred, who left no doubt on her way to a gold medal in her Olympic debut in 10.72 seconds. It was a repeat of the semifinal earlier Saturday night when Alfred also beat Richardson convincingly.
