Amazon is testing news with a Brian Williams election-night special on Prime Video. AdvertisementAmazon is getting closer to jumping into news coverage with an election-night special hosted by Brian Williams. "Election Night Live with Brian Williams" will air on Prime Video at 5 p.m. "Election Night Live" is a gamble for Amazon, which has no history in news. A one-off news program is in keeping with its strategy of getting into live event programming like sports and live shopping, though.

Vance, who is expected to hold a campaign event in Pennsylvania later Wednesday, will meet with Rogan at his podcast studio in Austin, Texas. Though this will be his first appearance on Rogan’s show, Vance has appeared on dozens of podcasts since joining the Republican presidential ticket. Last week, the senator sat for two separate podcast tapings — Theo Von and Tim Dillon — for a combined nearly four hours of content. The Trump interview episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” has already garnered over 37.5 million views on YouTube alone in less than a week. The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to Rogan’s post.

The ads are part of an effort to energize male voters as Harris seeks to narrow the gender gap in support for her and for former President Donald Trump. A CNN national poll of likely voters released on Friday found Trump has the support of 51% of men compared with Harris’ 45% support among male voters. Tim Walz, are continuing their outreach to male voters with campaign events, interviews and digital media content. Do I look like a country club kind of guy?”The Trump campaign has also made a point of courting male voters. Harris campaign spokesperson Ian Sams said in an MSNBC interview on Thursday that the Harris campaign has been in touch with Rogan but an interview has not been scheduled.

The Rogan interview is a continuation of Trump turning to nontraditional media outlets, including podcasts, in the weeks leading up to Election Day. Rogan also invited Vice President Kamala Harris to do an interview, but her campaign has declined. Later in the interview, Rogan seemed to foreshadow the fact that Trump’s Lee comment could get him criticized. Vice President Kamala Harris had also been in talks to do an interview with Rogan but it didn’t pan out. As the third hour of the interview approached, Trump said he realized he needed to get to a scheduled rally in Michigan, which he was late for because of the length of the Rogan interview.

Former President Donald Trump stood by his idea to end income taxes and substitute them with tariffs in a Friday interview with Joe Rogan, the host of one of the most widely listened to podcasts in the world. "Did you just float out the idea of getting rid of income taxes and replacing it with tariffs?" He has also said he would consider income tax exemptions for firefighters, police officers, military personnel and veterans. But tax experts and economic analysts do not think Trump's tariffs would be an adequate counterweight to balance the trillions lost from eliminating income taxes. In effect, these tariffs could replace income tax with a kind of new sales tax, shifting the tax burden more heavily onto low-income individuals.

MIAMI — With less than two weeks before the presidential election, NBC News and MSNBC checked in with a group of voters in Florida’s Miami-Dade County, where 69% of its residents are Latino. In the six months that followed, the race changed drastically, with Biden dropping out of the race and Vice President Kamala Harris becoming the Democratic presidential nominee. The conversation took place as Harris and Trump criss-cross the country amid an evenly split presidential race, with both candidates appealing to the growing Latino electorate in appearances at separate town halls. We wanted to know how these voters are thinking about the race now and the issues that matter to them. They also discussed the urgent need to find common ground — and lower the temperature of the political rhetoric.

But it may allow Russia to reorganize and push forward, and if it works North Korea can send more. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Wednesday that the reports of North Korea sending soldiers to Russia was “fake and hype,” local media reported. "I am very concerned," James Stavridis, a retired U.S. Navy admiral and the former supreme commander of NATO forces, told MSNBC yesterday. And if a North Korean soldier is killed with NATO weapons how does the often unpredictable Kim respond? This week South Korea summoned the Russian ambassador, seeking the “immediate withdrawal” of North Korean troops from Russia.

PHILADELPHIA — For 30 years, the Rev. Alyn E. Waller has led his flock at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, the city’s largest Black congregation. But on Saturday, the good pastor led another kind of assembly: 100 Black men, mostly clad in leather, astride a pack of snarling motorcycles. “Here we are in Philly, 100 fellas on bikes in the city and the police are helping us, not chasing us,” Waller said, a chorus of hogs, trikes and slingshots rising around him. “We’ve got Black Bikers Vote, Black Men Vote and then just people who care about democracy getting together on a beautiful day to ride bikes through some of the areas in Philadelphia that need to be reminded to exercise their franchise,” Waller said.

But Donald Trump’s threats are not ordinary, either. He has imprecisely but repeatedly invoked the government’s licensing of broadcast TV airwaves and has said on at least 15 occasions that certain licenses should be revoked. Trump’s threats against CBS have been particularly intense in recent weeks. The threat from any politician to revoke a broadcast license simply because they disagree with the station’s content undermines this basic freedom.”Many of Trump’s threats conflate national networks and local stations. As president, Trump also said that TV licenses “must be challenged and, if appropriate, revoked,” but nothing came of it.

His alarming behavior may look to some like a candidacy melting down when the pressure is at its most extreme. With polls deadlocked, Trump’s behavior hasn’t yet disqualified him. Washington CNN —Sen. JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, falsely claimed Sunday that former President Donald Trump “didn’t go after his political opponents” during his presidency – an assertion that is contradicted by a mountain of evidence. As president, Trump publicly and privately pressured the Justice Department, and others in his administration, to investigate or prosecute numerous political opponents. Trump made extensive behind-the-scenes efforts to get his political opponents charged with crimes. But you don’t have to rely on investigative reporting or the memoirs of former administration officials to know that Trump went after political opponents as president. As CNN reporter Marshall Cohen has noted, there is a long list of political opponents whom Trump publicly called for the Justice Department and others to investigate or prosecute.

CNN —Kamala Harris is responding to Democratic panic about her White House prospects by turning up the heat on Donald Trump. The vice president warned Monday that the ex-president was “unstable,” “unhinged” and out for “unchecked power” as she sent a jolt of urgency though her campaign with 21 days to go. Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, meanwhile, went even further, suggesting the ex-president’s musings about using the military against domestic foes he branded “the enemy from within” could even amount to treason. White women are a huge voting bloc, and since 2000, the GOP presidential ticket has won a majority of them. In Galvanize Action’s June poll, when President Joe Biden was still the presumptive Democratic nominee, he and Trump were in a dead heat among white women. “What we hear from [moderate white women] is, even if I would never choose to have an abortion, this is a freedom that women that I love deserve and should be protected,” Payne said. The trend has been especially pronounced among younger white women ages 18-34. White women 35 to 54 years old remain in the GOP column, per this data, and at 55 and older, the trend line shows a toss-up between both parties.

In this 2004 photo, then-District Attorney Kamala Harris waits for a proceeding to convene in San Francisco. The long-standing problem of racial inequities in the criminal justice system is among the issues that prompted Harris to become a prosecutor in the first place. “I grew up knowing about the disparities, inequities, and unfairness in the criminal justice system,” Harris said during a 2019 town hall hosted by MSNBC. And I am proud of the work that I did.”As a prosecutor, Harris adopted what she called a “smart on crime” approach to law enforcement. Her cautious stance on the issue frustrated many advocates of criminal justice reform, including those who expressed support for Harris on other issues.

Experts say phone calls can resolve conflicts better than digital communication. AdvertisementPicking up the phone really is the best way to figure things out when issues arise with colleagues, experts say. "And, I think, to me, it's an example of how often the best thing to do is just to pick up the phone." Phone calls, in comparison, allow for real-time, personal discussions "where tone and emotion are conveyed much more clearly," McLean said.
