I love “Seinfeld.” As for the actual comedian Jerry Seinfeld, however it’s…complicated. In most of his activities outside his eponymous classic sitcom (1989-1998), Seinfeld bemuses more than amuses me. This ambivalence only obliquely affects my opinion of “Unfrosted,” Seinfeld’s recently-released feature-length Netflix comedy. Still, I’ve always had the disquieting sense of Seinfeld somehow always Getting Away With Something when he pulls off this suave, impeccably creased act. Seinfeld isn’t about unsettling his viewers and I’m in no way suggesting he should be.

"One woman wanted to rent my office to work," remembers Lisa Slocum, the airport Fifth Third Bank branch manager. Capital One closed its branch at Washington, D.C.'s Dulles International Airport in 2020, instead creating "airport lounges" for cardholders in Dulles, along with similar spots at airports in Denver and Dallas. Yet full-service airport bank branches are a relative rarity, surprising in a retail landscape that often resembles an upscale mall more than a terminal. Fifth Third BankWells Fargo operates a full-service branch in Las Vegas's Harry Reid International Airport, and according to a bank spokeswomen, has a multi-year relationship with the airport that involves both the branch and multiple ATMs throughout terminals. An emergency exit slide came off a Delta Air Lines Boeing 767 on Friday. A lawyer, whose firm is suing Boeing over the Alaska blowout, spotted it outside his home two days later. The wild coincidence happened on Sunday, two days after the slide fell off the Boeing 767 operated by Delta Air Lines. However, it should be noted that since the Delta Boeing 767 was built in 1990, the incident points to a maintenance issue rather than the planemaker's fault.

A new study shows that coastal communities may be more at risk from sea-level rise than previously thought. The sea level is rising as the earth heats and glaciers melt. They then built the first high-resolution maps of this, showing east coast land sinking anywhere from two millimeters to five millimeters per year—affecting more than 2 million people and 800,000 properties. In Baltimore, Maryland, so-called nuisance flooding is becoming more and more prevalent, due to sea-level rise and sinking land. Coastal Baltimore is sinking by more than two millimeters per year, according to the study.

I recently took a day flight from New York to London to see if it helps jet lag. However, until last week, I had exclusively taken overnight flights — known as red-eye flights — when flying eastbound across the Atlantic. They depart in the morning in the US and land in the evening on the same day in Europe. Curious about how the daytime flight compared to a red-eye, I specifically booked a morning departure for my recent trip from New York to London. Because I was up at 4 a.m. in New York to catch the morning flight, I figured I'd be tired enough to sleep.

In a statement, the airline said the fee for both the first and second checked bag is increasing by $5 for most domestic and short-haul international routes. It will now cost travelers $35 for the first checked bag and $45 for the second checked bag. American Airlines said Monday that 80% of its revenue this year will come from loyalty program members and passengers in premium cabins like business class, up from 70% in 2017. American and other carriers have poured billions of dollars into new cabins, lounges and onboard upgrades to cater to high-spending travelers. American's rival Delta Air Lines has repeatedly said that premium revenue growth has become a bigger share of its overall sales and is growing faster than ticket sales in the coach cabin. American earlier on Monday said it was ordering 260 new Boeing , Airbus and Embraer planes to revamp its fleet and that it would retrofit older Airbus planes to increase the size of their first-class cabins. Analysts polled by LSEG, formerly known as Refinitiv are projecting 2024 earnings per share of $2.56 and revenue of $54.97 billion.

The head of the FAA told Congress how its panel is examining sleep science to help. Despite the best efforts of pilots and air traffic controllers, sometimes collisions do happen. It said the captain was distracted and confused by instructions from air traffic controllers, while the co-pilot lost track of the plane's location. Air traffic control fatigueOne major cause of near-misses is the strained workload of air traffic controllers. "Air traffic controllers are being required to do mandatory overtime," she said.
