And the US has incessantly pushed for a Gaza ceasefire that neither Netanyahu nor Hamas seems to want. For instance, the US and its allies helped repel a massive Iranian missile and drone attack against Israel in April. It has also killed other senior members of the two groups in strikes in Syria, Lebanon, Iran and in Gaza. And pro-Trump Republicans are goading him to go further — at least partly to weaken Biden and his chosen successor, Harris. This is just one of many reasons why Netanyahu is incentivized to expand his war no matter how powerless it makes America look.

US Navy ships operating in the Red Sea shot down a number of Houthi missiles and drones on Friday. The Houthis said earlier that they targeted three Navy warships with nearly two dozen ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. The increased Red Sea presence comes amid heightened fears of an all-out conflict between Israel and the Lebanon-based Hezbollah, another militant group backed by Iran. US forces said they destroyed one missile system in Yemen and two drones over the Red Sea during this time period.

The report didn't blow us away, but it still offered plenty of reminders on why Costco investors should stick around. Total revenue in its fiscal 2024 fourth quarter totaled $79.7 billion, missing analysts' expectations of $79.97 billion, according to estimates compiled by LSEG. Costco has succeeded for decades, but the high inflation of recent years has made the company's value-focused ethos really shine. Put it all together, we're increasing our price target on the stock to $950 a share from $875. In the quarter, Costco's membership renewal rate in the U.S. and Canada came in at 92.9%, a tick lower than the 93% rate observed in the third fiscal quarter, while worldwide held constant at 90.5%.

Read previewA Houthi ballistic missile reached Israel from Yemen for the first time on Sunday, disintegrating in the air after Israel activated its air defenses. AdvertisementThe Arrow 2 and Arrow 3 both made their first-ever combat intercepts against Houthis missiles on October 31 and November 9, 2023, respectively. The Arrow 3 fires an intercept missile that strikes an incoming ballistic missile outside the Earth's atmosphere, and boasts superior range and speed over its Arrow 2 predecessor. The Palestine missiles are solid-propellent, making them more advanced than the liquid-propellent ballistic missiles hitherto used by the group. "When it comes to large-scale drone and missile attacks, Iran has to rely on large volumes to try and overwhelm Israeli air and missile defenses," Tack said.

Iran is helping the Houthi rebels in Yemen target U.S. Reaper drones, which has enabled the Houthis to shoot down or damage several of the massive, unmanned aircraft, say two U.S. officials. The interference severely inhibits the U.S. ability to gather intelligence and increases the chance that the drones could drift into unfriendly airspace. The U.S. military has struggled to stop some Houthi air defense systems because rather than radars, the Houthis often use electro-optical systems to find targets. Iran sent a spy ship to the waters near Yemen to help the Houthis target ships in the Red Sea. It appears the U.S. plan to interdict shipments of Iranian weapons and destroy stockpiles of weapons and drones has failed to roll back Houthi attacks on cargo ships, Knights said.

The First Matabele War, fought between 1893 and 1894, foretold the future. The brutal era of trench warfare the Maxim gun ushered in only became fully apparent in World War I. Like other unmanned vehicles that aim for a high level of autonomy, these Russian drones don’t rely on large language models or similar A.I.
