Bhatnagar pointed to how Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation will help India's Tata Electronics to build the country's first 12-inch wafer fab in Gujarat. However, analysts said India first needs to learn the ropes before it can compete with the East Asian giant, especially since its semiconductor manufacturing industry is still at a very nascent stage. Earlier in September, the U.S. Department of State announced it will partner with the India Semiconductor Mission and India's electronics and IT government body to improve the global semiconductor value chain. The two women with very similar names offer a snapshot of the different surrogate pools for Trump and Harris. The courting of celebrity endorsements is a long-running tradition in presidential politics and one that Democrats generally win. Swift criticized the fake posting, saying it was part of the reason she is backing Harris’ campaign. Even as he downplayed Harris’ level of celebrity endorsements, Trump has tried to use people with celebrity status to appeal to specific voter blocs. Shortly after Swift backed Harris, Trump said she would “probably pay a price” for the endorsement, and five days later on Truth Social he made his bluntest and most direct attack on Swift.

Trump won the presidency in 2016 by stunning Democrat Hillary Clinton to win all three states by a combined margin of about 80,000 votes. But, as in other states, Democrats have been concerned about the risk of depressed turnout and some gains for Trump among Black voters in Philadelphia. Eight years later, the two states split again, when Roosevelt comfortably won Pennsylvania and Michigan narrowly went to Republican Wendell Willkie. This trio of states has arguably become the most consistent tipping point in American politics. In the nine elections since 1920 when they split their vote, the candidate who carried two of these three states won seven times.

Oxfam recently released its Best and Worst States to Work in the U.S. report, which considers criteria like minimum wage, paid leave and the ability to organize. "There are vast disparities and access to critical workplace protections that vary by state," says Inimai Chettiar, president of the work-family justice organization A Better Balance. Oxfam then narrowed in on policies that have an outsized effect on women and women of color, specifically, to rank the best states for female employees. Oxfam examined each state's tipped minimum wage, for example, as nearly seven in 10 tipped workers are women, according to the National Women's Law Center. We've explained how current high-yield savings accounts beat inflation rates, and what Fed rate cuts mean for your savings. How does inflation affect savingsIn order to understand how high-yield savings accounts beat inflation, you first have to understand what inflation is. Dixon says that, while high-yield savings accounts are good for shorter-term savings such as emergency funds, investing can be a good longer-term strategy — as long as you understand the risk. If your savings aren't kept in a high-yield savings account, the interest you earn on your savings could be outpaced by the current inflation rate. Using a high-yield savings account can help you save your savings from inflation because current high-yield savings account rates are higher than current inflation rates.

Ten days after the war started, Abdallah’s pregnant wife and three children fled to the south of the Gaza Strip seeking safety. Under-18s make up close to half of the population of the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian census figures. It’s not known exactly how many children in Gaza are unaccompanied or separated, according to UNICEF. Agencies like UNICEF are working hard to identify and support children at risk of exploitation, particularly unaccompanied and separated children, she said. But there are many operational constraints restricting their efforts and more information is needed about unaccompanied and separated children living in displacement camps, she added.

Wednesday’s pretrial hearing, which has been scheduled for months, followed a whiplash decision by Austin to revoke a plea deal that had been announced just two days prior last week. “What he did was illegal,” Eugene Fidell, who teaches military justice at Yale University and co-founded the National Institute of Military Justice, told CNN. But Sowards argued Wednesday that by revoking the deal, Austin was actually doing more harm to the families. While the terms of the pretrial agreement had not been released publicly, among them was the assurance that the detainees would answer questions by 9/11 victim family members. Sowards said family members had already “been submitting questions in good faith,” and expecting answers in return as part of the deal.
