The D-backs and Texas Rangers have been great with the leather all season long. So far in the World Series, that trend is continuing. The D-backs and Rangers combined for zero errors over the first two games of the Fall Classic, which is the first time that's happened since 2018. This is the first World Series since 1993 — and fifth ever — that will feature all of its games on artifical turf. Arizona stole five bases in the first two games of the series, including four in Game 1.

PHOENIX (AP) — Max Scherzer is being glued together to make his start in World Series Game 3. He said it won't bother him when he starts for the Texas Rangers on Monday with the Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks tied 1-1. “A little arts and crafts in the training room at times, but that’s what you’ve got to do.”Rookie Brandon Pfaadt starts for the Diamondbacks, who won 9-1 Saturday after losing the opener 6-5 in 11 innings. “This is crazy to say it’s my third World Series, but here I have such another opportunity to live out my dream,” Scherzer said. I think I watched one World Series game last year,” he said.

Texas Rangers fans are hoping the slugger Adolis Garcia can blast the franchise to its first World Series title. Arizona supporters know the Diamondbacks need to continue being greedy on the basepaths if they’re to capture a second championship. More than 70.7 million people attended a regular-season game, a nearly 10 percent increase over last season. That was the highest percentage of growth in 30 years, and the league recorded record revenue in merchandise and sponsorship sales. Major League Baseball estimates that the rule changes resulted in a $500 million increase in its revenue.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Paul Sewald watched the end of his first World Series game in the Arizona Diamondbacks clubhouse and the trainer's room, not from the center of a celebration on the mound as he had imagined. Arizona won that thrilling classic in seven games, but now the team's last three World Series losses have all followed tying home runs in the ninth. The Diamondbacks' bullpen entered Friday with a 2.94 ERA this postseason and hadn't blown a save since the regular season. Arizona pitchers, however, lost their grip in the World Series opener. “You can’t walk 10 batters in a World Series game and expect to hold them in the situation that we held them in,” Lovullo said.

This one won an extended Game 1 of the World Series for the Texas Rangers. If I did that, I’d be screaming, too,” Texas second baseman Marcus Semien said. “It's going to be a really good series,” García said. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Ketel Marte has the longest hitting streak in postseason history at 18 games after a two-run single in the eighth inning of Game 2 of the World Series. Marte already had the MLB record for the longest hitting streak to start a postseason career at 17 games. The Game 2 hit sent him past Derek Jerek and Hank Bauer of the New York Yankees and Boston's Manny Ramirez for the longest overall streak. After the single, Marte was hitting .333 with two home runs and 11 RBIs this postseason. The Cuban All-Star had homered in five consecutive postseason games and driven in a run in seven straight.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Former President George W. Bush threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Game 1 of the World Series to former Texas Rangers catcher Iván “Pudge” Rodriguez, bouncing the throw from the front of the mound. When he was president, Bush famously threw out the first pitch of the first World Series game in New York after 9/11 terrorist attacks, making that toss from the rubber without a bounce. “Well, this is Texas,” Jeter said Friday in a brief interview from the tunnel behind the Texas dugout on the first-base side. Rodriguez was still playing the last time the Rangers reached the World Series in 2010 and 2011. Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsOct 26 (Reuters) - The 2023 World Series will pit two gritty wild-card teams that have proved deadly on the road against each other when the Texas Rangers play host to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Game One on Friday. The Rangers, who are seeking their first World Series championship, started the playoffs red hot, hammering the Tampa Bay Rays in two road games and emerging victorious from the wild card round. They followed that up by sweeping the 101-win Baltimore Orioles in the Division Series before overcoming the Astros in Game Seven of the ALCS to capture the franchise's third pennant. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy will send ace Nathan Eovaldi to the mound for Game One. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Stolen bases and batting averages are up and game times are down in the first postseason with the pitch clock and larger bases. There have been an average of 1.4 steals per game through the League Championship Series, up from 0.8 through last year’s LCS. The overall postseason batting average has climbed from .213 to .241, and batting average for left-handed hitters has risen from .217 to .244 in the first year with defensive shift limits, although with the small sample size, any changes may be an aberration. Just seven pitch clock violations have been called through 36 postseason games. MLB, over the objections of the players' association, instituted a pitch clock set at 15 seconds with the bases empty and 20 seconds with runners on base.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Before opening the World Series, the Arizona Diamondbacks wanted to recount a series of slights. Overlooked by oddsmakers and angered by analysts, the Diamondbacks find themselves in a Surprise Series against the also unexpected Texas Rangers. Texas starts Nathan Eovaldi, a 33-year-old right-hander and a two-time All-Star who has overcome two Tommy John surgeries. “We weren’t concerned with what people thought of us,” said first-year Rangers manager Bruce Bochy who led San Francisco to three titles from 2010-14. The Diamondbacks have allowed three unearned runs during the postseason and the Rangers one.

PHILADELPHIA—The Arizona Diamondbacks are young and inexperienced. They won just 84 games during the regular season and barely made it to the playoffs. They are one of the few championship-contending teams that can sincerely spout the maxim, “No one believed in us.”Yet the Diamondbacks are heading for the World Series on the back of a playoff run that goes beyond disbelief. They have toppled big names—the Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers and now the Philadelphia Phillies—with a team of players that few have heard of, outside of Arizona.

October 25 - PHILADELPHIA -- The Arizona Diamondbacks won nine games during a six-week span from early July through mid-August. On Tuesday night, the Diamondbacks won their ninth game of October -- and became one of the most unlikely World Series teams of all-time. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Trea Turner had the moment that could have pushed the Phillies toward the World Series waiting for him. Harper, though, lined a 2-1 fastball to center to end the scoring threat, the inning — and Philadelphia's last, best chance to return to the World Series. The Diamondbacks used a walk-off Game 3 single and a tying two-run homer late in a Game 4 win that wiped out an 0-2 NLCS hole.
