A Ukrainian human-rights group says Russian commanders are charging families to retrieve remains. Crimea SOS accused the Russians of charging some $1,500 to bring the bodies of dead soldiers home. However, there have been reported instances of Russian army officers being accused of mishandling the bodies of their dead troops. Russia's defense minister Sergei Shoigu claimed in September 2022 — almost a year ago — that 6,000 Russian soldiers died in the first six months of the war. Researchers working with the BBC said in August that more than 30,000 dead Russian soldiers had been identified by name, suggesting an overall death toll far larger.

It's unclear how much Musk weighs, or if this fight is even going to happen. Elon Musk wants people to know he weighs 300 pounds and totally stands a chance against Mark Zuckerberg in a cage match. In the post, Krassenstein presented a "fight card" of the much-hyped Zuck vs. Musk fight. "I weigh at least 300 lbs," Musk replied, appearing to object to Krassenstein's characterization of his weight class. The X logo is pretty nice. Mourn the blue bird for now, but get used to the new X. I know we miss the blue bird, but come on, the new X logo isn't that bad. There's a big problem with Shopify's calculator for the true cost of meetings. Shopify's COO says the salary indicator on each meeting just reflects the average salary for the role. That means the meeting's cost won't be accurate in the first place: It's just an estimate. And Shopify has swooped in with what it says is a solution: airing the cost of meetings to scare bosses into scheduling fewer of them. If there's an hour-long meeting, everyone's hourly salary will be factored into a Google calendar invite.

Elon Musk is proposing a "dick measuring contest." It's unclear what sparked the sudden interest on Musk's part in whipping out a ruler to quash his Zuckerberg beef. But the cage match Musk suggested in June also started out as a joke — at least until Zuckerberg took the bait and asked Musk to send over the location for fight night. She's been known to scold her son occasionally, so maybe she can make him see reason where no one else can. Good luck, Momma Musk; you're the hero we need in this darkest of timelines.

That long string of numbers now attached to our Instagram profile, however, is not. One bit of beef I have with the app, however, has its roots in how it's affected my Instagram account. Call me shallow, but that super long @ that's been added to my Instagram profile, right under my username? That said, this feels like a small quibble in the big scheme of things — the new Threads app is fun. And for now, I prefer it to a social media app that's prone to crashing, with an owner who's seen fit to impose a rate limit on how many tweets can be viewed.
