CLEVELAND — Some Democrats working to re-elect Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio this fall are attempting to raise fears about his opponent’s Colombian family and heritage, drawing charges of racism from Republicans. “Our tax dollars, a Moreno family windfall. Bernie Moreno only cares about himself.”The rhetoric has become a late-emerging tension point in a race that could determine partisan control of the Senate. Ohio and Montana, two states where former President Donald Trump twice won by large margins, are the top two GOP targets. The Ohio race is one of the most expensive in the country this fall, with total ad spending exceeding $100 million since Sept. 1.

Before she built what would become a billion-dollar company, Angie Hicks had to conquer one of her biggest fears: talking to strangers. Hicks — one of the two co-founders of Angi, formerly known as Angie's List — is a self-described introvert. But when the business launched in 1995, she wore many hats — often literally walking door-to-door to recruit Angi's first customers. In 1996, the company rebranded to Angie's List after customers began associating Hicks personally with the recommendations. The company, which went public in 2011, has consistently brought in over one billion dollars every year since 2018.

But TikTok users — many of whom speculated the rug was evidence of a larger crime — expressed disappointment on Friday when the woman, who goes by Katie Santry on TikTok, revealed that the rug she uncovered didn’t contain a body. In comments, TikTok users offered their own theories on what they described as “rug gate” — advising Santry to contact lawyers and psychics and asking Santry about her neighbors. Some also speculated that missing people from Columbus-area cold cases could be buried in the rug. TikTok comments encouraged Santry to contact the police, who initially told her to try digging up the rug herself, she said. “There were no bones, there was no body, it was just a rug … This should be a sigh of relief.

Past debate footage reveals that both generally veer away from personal attacks and prefer loftier rhetoric to digging deeply into specific facts to establish policy credibility. Their past debate opponents said they didn’t always provide direct answers to questions. In both the primary and general election debates, Vance often stuck to policy areas he felt most comfortable with: immigration, the economy and drug control. The average commute time was calculated using the 2022 American Census Survey and the traffic was calculated using Lyft data from August 2023 to August 2024. The report found that 25% of the commuters surveyed said that time was the most important factor in having a great commute.
