Her image shifted in 2008 after she launched her eponymous fashion brand, which has since shown regularly at London, New York and Paris Fashion Weeks. While her wardrobe today tends to skew more subtle, there’s still nothing Victoria can’t style out — including, most recently, a pair of crutches to support her broken ankle. LBDs and all-black looks were a mainstay of Victoria's wardrobe as Posh Spice, demonstrated here at Grosvenor House in London during the Ivor Novello Awards in 1997. Andreas Rentz/Getty ImagesHer penchant for color-blocking, particularly in bright reds and oranges, have become a signature feature of Victoria's look — shown here during a visit to New York in 2017. Editor’s Note: Featuring the good, the bad and the ugly, ‘Look of the Week’ is a regular series dedicated to unpacking the most talked about outfit of the last seven days. The same day, Julia Fox was spotted in another headscarf — styled with her Velveeta cheese curls and chunky boots. A Gucci store at Harbour City shopping mall, operated by Wharf Holdings Ltd., in Hong Kong, China, on Friday, June 2, 2023. Shares of French luxury group Kering plunged 14% on Tuesday after the company warned that Gucci sales look set to fall 20% year-on-year in the first quarter, amid declining Asia transactions. Kering plunged to the bottom of the Stoxx 600 after a delayed open, dragging other European luxury lines with it. Gucci comparable revenues in the first quarter are expected to be down by nearly 20% year on year." Façade and window displays of the Boss store by Hugo Boss, in the Salamanca district, on 25 February, 2023 in Madrid, Spain. Shares of Hugo Boss plunged 18%, before paring losses slightly Thursday, after warning that it may fail to meet its 2025 sales target amid weakening consumer demand. CEO Daniel Grieder told CNBC on Thursday that 2023 was a "record year," but signaled more modest growth of 3% to 6% in 2024. He added that the company's ambition to reach 5 billion euros in sales — originally etched for 2025 — may be "slightly delayed." However, Grieder said Hugo Boss, known for fashion apparel and fragrances, was well positioned as an "affordable luxury" brand that can offer pricing flexibility without compromising margins.

CNN —Victoria Beckham’s Paris Fashion Week show was disrupted by animal rights activists as they joined her models on the catwalk to protest her brand’s use of animal products such as leather. Protesters in white vests reading “turn your back on animal skins” and “animals aren’t fabric” walked along models on the runway on Friday, holding signs reading “Viva vegan leather,” before being escorted away by security. Animal rights group Peta said that although Beckham’s brand has banned the use of fur and exotic skins in its collections, it still uses leather, including calfskin. “No garment or accessory is worth violently slaughtering and skinning a sensitive and intelligent animal,” PETA Vice President for Europe Mimi Bekhechi said in a statement. Hundreds of props used in the show "Succession" have been auctioned off. The voluminous Burberry tote is one of the most famous props used on "Succession," the famed HBO saga of the Roy family dynasty, and it sold at auction Saturday for $18,750. It often parodied the lives of the uber-wealthy, with Logan Roy being a nod to the former Chairman of Fox News, Rupert Murdoch. After all, there's no award for "best props" at awards shows like there is for costumes, notes "Succession" prop master Monica Jacobs, who joined the show after the pilot episode.

Investors looking ahead to 2024 should pick up shares of Hermes , Cartier owner Richemont and Hugo Boss in the luxury goods sector, according to UBS. The Swiss investment bank has a bullish call on those three stocks, though it struck a more cautious tone for the sector. RMS-FR CFR-CH,BOSS-DE YTD line UBS has a price target of 85 euros ($93) a share for Hugo Boss, which points to a 38% upside from the current share price. The Swiss bank also raised its price target for Hermes to 2,216 euros, which is 12% above its current share price. The outlook for the three stocks contrasts with UBS' view that slowing sales momentum and easing pricing power warrant caution on the luxury sector on the whole.

Banks may resist China’s push to help developers

REUTERS/Stringer Acquire Licensing RightsSINGAPORE, Nov 21 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Beijing is giving Chinese banks another nudge to persuade them to play the property white knight. Regulators including the People’s Bank of China are drafting a “whitelist” of 50 property developers, including state-backed China Vanke (000002.SZ) and fully private ones like Seazen (1030.HK) and Longfor (0960.HK), Bloomberg reported citing unnamed sources. More importantly, barring specific lending targets, banks are likely to remain in wait-and-see mode because they fear getting stuck with a mountain of bad loans. Last December, Chinese banks pledged new credit lines worth around 3 trillion yuan ($424 billion) to a dozen developers deemed worth saving, following a similar effort by Beijing. But at a time when China’s outstanding property loans are contracting, such vaguely worded guidance loses relevance.
