Their review concluded that some studies of fluoride consumption have found links between higher fluoride water levels and lower IQs in kids.

TOKYO — Lawmakers in Japan voted Monday to retain the embattled Shigeru Ishiba as prime minister despite his long-governing party’s dismal showing in parliamentary elections last month. Ishiba, a straight-talking former defense minister, received 221 votes compared with 160 for Yoshihiko Noda, leader of the opposition Constitutional Democratic Party. Many Japanese officials assume Trump is going to be “more straightforwardly anti-China,” and that Japan will be “somehow miraculously left off the hook,” he said. CNN —The US carried out a series of strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen late Saturday evening, according to a US defense official, targeting numerous weapons storage facilities across at least three locations. The facilities housed advanced conventional weapons used to target ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, said the official, who added that the US used fighter jets to carry out the attack. The Iran-backed Houthis have for months targeted ships in the Red Sea, one of the world’s busiest waterways, calling the attacks a response to Israel’s war in Gaza against Hamas. The Houthis, Hamas and Hezbollah are all part of an Iran-led alliance spanning Yemen, Syria, Gaza and Iraq that has attacked Israel and its allies since the war began last year. Austin said he authorized the strikes at the direction of President Joe Biden to “further degrade” the Houthis’ capabilities.

To be clear: Trump does not inherit a world at peace, where America’s unquestioning role as a beacon of freedom and moral superiority has brought enduring calm. Yet Tehran now has experience of Trump as someone willing to be wildly incautious and unafraid of international norms. As President Joe Biden - who did all he could to avoid war with Iran - leaves power, Iran looks incredibly weak. Rome CNN —Rome’s baroque Trevi Fountain opened Saturday morning with selfie-takers lining a newly installed metal walkway, as workers start the painstaking process of carefully cleaning the 18th-century masterpiece. But a warning to those visiting the attraction because tossing a coin into the fountain, a long-standing tradition, is now banned. The $330,000 cleaning and restoration project will last until December, Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri told CNN in an interview Saturday morning. He said that will also make the experience better for tourists, many of whom seem happy to pay the price. The mayor has promised that the Trevi Fountain will be ready in just five weeks this time.
