The family of a 30-year-old Hawaii resident is searching for her in Los Angeles after she missed a connecting flight, sent unusual text messages and then went silent, the relatives said. The next day, she sent concerning text messages to loved ones, family members said. The three were part of a larger group of family members and loved ones who gathered in Los Angeles in recent days to launch a search effort. Family members said they couldn't speak about it in detail because they don't want to hinder investigators. The group gathered in Los Angeles is focusing its own search on the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Hill Street, near the Convention Center, LA Live and Crypto Arena, family members said.

Kennedy will likely have some influence over who the president-elect chooses for those roles, health policy experts said. Ultimately, Kennedy's influence over immunization policy could lead to an increase in diseases preventable by vaccines, several health policy experts told CNBC. Investors are already bracing for a crackdown on food policy, with shares of processed food companies, such as Pepsi and Coca-Cola , falling on Friday. Seigerman said "there is little precedent in recent history for HHS policy dictating or affecting FDA regulation or approval of drugs." But the decline in support for Ms. Harris in some of the country’s most liberal areas is particularly notable. For example, in Fulton County, which contains most of Atlanta, Ms. Harris gained about 4,500 votes, but Mr. Trump gained more than 7,400. He similarly outran Ms. Harris where she made gains in Wake County, N.C., Lancaster County, Pa., and Montgomery County, Texas. In Milwaukee County in swing-state Wisconsin, Ms. Harris lost 1,200 voters compared with Mr. Biden’s total in 2020, while Mr. Trump gained more than 3,500. A mystery celebrity has accused the high-profile Texas attorney who is representing dozens of clients in sex abuse lawsuits against Sean "Diddy" Combs of orchestrating an extortion plot meant to destroy his reputation. But hidden within the typical red carpet fanfare at the Governors Ball in Los Angeles on Sunday night was a group of sartorial renegades, each one taking aim at the traditional button-down shirt. Leading the charge was actor Barry Keoghan, dressed in a full Dolce & Gabbana suit featuring a black cropped satin jacket. Matt Baron/BEI/ShutterstockDrew Starkey paired his red suit with a stand collar and ornate black clasp. His Shakespearean-style blouse might look more at home at a Renaissance fair than a glitzy red carpet, but its off-white shade and tie-front detail gave the Gucci tuxedo a new lease of life. Many drivers told BI that the gig has become less profitable recently due to increased competition. As the adoption of driverless taxis spreads across the US, ride-hailing experts told Business Insider that Uber and Lyft drivers could see their earning opportunities slowly deteriorate. Garin said that many ride-hailing drivers work part-time and don't rely on the gig as their primary source of income. “The governor will defer to the DA-elect’s review and analysis of the Menendez case prior to making any clemency decisions.”Current District Attorney George Gascón, who has voiced strong support for the Menendez brothers’ clemency petition and submitted letters to the governor advocating for them, requested a judge in October to resentence the siblings, who are serving life without parole. With Hochman set to take office in December, questions have arisen about the future of the resentencing effort and the clemency process. The brothers, family members and the public deserve a thorough review, Hochman said. The renewed examination of the Menendez case comes more than 35 years after Jose and Kitty Menendez were shot dead in their Beverly Hills home. In the subsequent trial, much of the evidence regarding the alleged abuse was deemed inadmissible, resulting in the brothers’ conviction and life sentences.

“So, I paid it.”On online baby message boards and other social media forums, pregnant women say they are being asked by their providers to pay out-of-pocket fees earlier than expected. In some cases, they may cause women to forgo prenatal care altogether, especially in places where few other maternity care options exist. When a pregnancy ends, OB-GYNs typically file a single insurance claim for routine prenatal care, labor, delivery, and, often, postpartum care. In addition, many people are opting for high-deductible health insurance plans, leaving them to shoulder a larger share of the costs. Of the 100 million U.S. people with health care debt, 12% attribute at least some of it to maternity care, according to a 2022 KFF poll.

CNN —An anonymous male celebrity says he is the victim of an extortion scheme and is suing a high-powered Texas attorney who is representing several people in civil lawsuits that accuse Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexual assault. Buzbee has said he is representing at least 120 alleged victims of Combs. The lawsuit filed by the anonymous celebrity claims that Buzbee’s firm is trying to capitalize off the “explosive allegations against Sean Combs” by roping in public figures who have been acquainted with Combs. In an interview with CNN last month, Buzbee explained that his firm initially files cases anonymously in an effort to protect the safety of his clients. “It is a cynical extortion scheme that is dressed up in vindicating victims of actual sexual abuse,” the lawsuit states.

Los Angeles CNN —Los Angeles officials on Tuesday moved to cement the city and its schools as sanctuaries for immigrants and LGBTQ youth as the city positions itself to push back strongly against President-elect Donald Trump’s platforms on immigration and gender. The Los Angeles City Council, which represents the second-largest US city, unanimously voted to adopt a “sanctuary city” ordinance that prohibits city resources from being used in immigration enforcement or to cooperate with federal immigration agents, unless required by state law. LGBTQ advocates also fear his presidency will result in wider restrictions on transgender people and rollbacks of protections for other LGBTQ groups. Los Angeles City Council members listen as a man speaks in support of a proposed "sanctuary city" ordinance at City Hall on Tuesday. Teachers and administrators will receive training on how to respond to federal immigration personnel who request information about students and families or who are trying to enter school property.
