In mid-December 2005, back when U.S.-Russia relations remained on relatively friendly terms, a new media channel called Russia Today began broadcasting English-language news. “It’s a very good start,” Russian President Vladimir Putin was quoted as saying of Russia Today at the time. In subsequent years, Russia Today would rebrand to RT, expand into other languages, and even open a studio in Washington, D.C. in 2010. The Tennessee company was not named in the indictment but appears to be Tenet Media, according to a review by NBC News of details included in the indictment. Instead of shuttering, the state media organization found alternate ways to distribute content, including a social media bot farm, the DOJ said in a July news release outlining its efforts to remove the content.

Now, the Justice Department is alleging that some of the biggest stars in right-wing social media were, unwittingly, part of a sinister Russian operation to influence the 2024 US election. What is Tenet Media? “Overt shilling”The Russians also pushed Tenet to promote videos that were going viral on social media, according to the indictment. Tenet Media has not responded to requests for comment and stopped posting content on Wednesday. After the 2016 US presidential election, congressional and federal investigations showed Moscow had successfully co-opted unwitting Americans to stage protests, run social media accounts and host events at its behest.

But soon after graduating, McRuer made an unlikely early-career pivot, ditching his dependable product design job to pursue his passion for film. The 2019 graduate studied product design at Stanford's School of Engineering. The internship quickly evolved into a full-time product design position. He initially thought he could get his filmmaking fix via a hobby that played second fiddle to his engineering work. But McRuer said he was ultimately surprised by the overlaps he's seen working in both engineering and film — particularly when producing.

Breaking Dawn was one of two places that opened in the San Francisco Bay Area last spring emphasizing brunch. Asian American restaurants in other cities have also found that sweet and savory spot between breakfast and lunch. Jessica Nguyen, 28, who was finishing brunch at Breaking Dawn, says she’ll almost always choose Asian brunch over regular eggs or waffles. Yet despite his ambition and potential, Eric finds himself constantly repeating two toxic words: I'll wait. "I'll wait until after my quarterly review to bring this up," he decides when considering whether to pitch an idea to his boss. "I'll wait until the new year to be firmer about my work hours," is how he rationalizes answering emails at 11 p.m. yet again. "I'll wait until things are calmer before I ask for a raise," is what he tells himself, but things never slow down. Saying "I'll wait" may seem reasonable on the surface, but these two little words will just hold you back.

Our oldest is taking advantage of early college programsRecently, I attended an orientation with my 16-year-old for her early college program. I wasn't familiar with early college programs, but they've become popular in our local area, both for the support they can offer teens transitioning to college and the cost savings they can offer. Students in the program take an additional year of high school that's a full college course load and then graduate from high school with up to 60 college credits, sometimes enough for a full associate degree. Along with the early college program, I took the small amount of savings we did have for her and opened a 529 education account. The catch is that all the money has to be used for educational purposes, but things such as trade school and school expenses qualify.

Martin's personal success with the challenge inspired her to bring the tradition to the Google offices. At the end of the challenge, Martin said that 97.2% of participants reported feeling that no-tech Tuesday in some way positively impacted their work performance and/or stress level, and 92% said they planned to continue the challenge. At the height of their careers, the Gao Brothers created provocative sculptures of Mao in a country notoriously sensitive about its former ruler’s legacy. Due to the “deteriorating environment” in China, Gao Zhen relocated to New York two years ago when his son, an American citizen born in the US, reached school age, Gao Qiang said. “Before he set off, his friends and family — myself included — had all reminded him to consider whether it was safe to go,” Gao Qiang said. “Our father’s death was a devastating disaster for our family.” Gao Zhen told the Southern People Weekly, a once-outspoken news outlet, in 2010. Gao Zhen’s detention shows that freedom of expression in China has shrunk significantly compared to a decade ago, Gao Qiang said.

I would never say I regret my college experience, but I will say that it's impacted how I think about my son's. There are benefits to taking a year before going to collegeWhen done the right way, a gap year can provide possibilities. That's a major part of why I like this idea for my son if he chooses to do it. And, like a lot of young people, he might move in a direction that none of us can see coming just yet. However, the potential for a gap year to instill more responsibility and confidence in my son seems to outweigh this particular con in my mind.
