Steckelberg announced her departure from Zoom in August after seven years at the company. CNN —A South African court ordered police to end a standoff with illegal miners and allow emergency workers to gain access to a shaft where hundreds are believed to be holed up. On Friday, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) said in a statement it was investigating the police for restricting the miners’ essential supplies. The South African Police Service welcomed the court order but said that the ruling does not prevent the detention of illegal miners who are in good health. Three illegal miners resurfaced by Saturday afternoon, according to the police. Also on Saturday, a South African national was arrested in Kanana at a house used as a smelter – a facility used to purify gold – they added.

The FBI on Friday said reports of racist and offensive text messages sent from anonymous phone numbers are now being sent to members of Latino and LGBTQ communities. The FBI is investigating previous reports of dozens of racist texts sent to Black Americans telling them they have been “selected" to pick cotton "at the nearest plantation" immediately following last week's election. The initial reports of racist texts last week included recipients who attend universities from California to South Carolina, with some sent via TextNow, a service compatible with untraceable, “burner” phone numbers. The FBI on Friday said the texts from the initial reports were not identical but seemed to follow similar themes. The agency said it's also sharing information on the expanding texts and emails with education institutions and faith leaders.

CNN —Richard Allen has been found guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of felony murder in the highly publicized Delphi murder trial, according to CNN affiliate WTHR. CNN —In Amsterdam’s Red Light District, the hologram of a woman sits behind a window. This hologram is modeled on Bernadett “Betty” Szabó, a 19-year-old Hungarian sex worker who was murdered in the Dutch capital in 2009. Despite a large-scale investigation, in which police monitored CCTV, interviewed witnesses, and combed over the crime scene, the case eventually became cold. Bernadett "Betty" Szabó was murdered in February 2009, three months after giving birth to her son. The reward for information related to the case has been raised to €30,000 (around $32,160).

While crisis pregnancy centers’ pattern of locating near abortion facilities is well documented, the new research, published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Medical Internet Research, maps women’s geographic access to both crisis pregnancy centers and abortion facilities. The new study found that in 2021, crisis pregnancy centers outnumbered abortion clinics 3-to-1 in the U.S., but acknowledged that the figure is probably greater now post-Dobbs. On average, the distance between crisis pregnancy centers and abortion facilities in the U.S. was 5.5 miles.
