A man in Australia tried to sue a Melbourne hospital for A$1 billion for psychological damage. He alleged that he was "encouraged" to watch his wife have a cesarian section. Anil Koppula tried to sue the Royal Women's Hospital for letting him watch his wife give birth via C-section in 2018. The cesarean was a success, but the man claims the hospital failed in its duty of care to him by letting him watch the procedure, the 7News report says. AdvertisementAdvertisementHe said the hospital "encouraged" or "permitted" him to watch the operation and that seeing his wife's organs and blood caused the mental illness he claimed to have, it adds.

Standing around three feet high, the modern koala is roughly 25 pounds of claws and teeth, tufty ears and fluffy white marsupial tummy. You could give one a hug — experts suggest that they prefer it if you don’t — but you wouldn’t want to carry it around all day. Now imagine that same koala, or one quite like it, weighing in at a much more manageable (and potentially cuter) six pounds. Researchers at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia, believe that such a creature, named Lumakoala blackae, once made its home in the country’s Northern Territory some 25 million years ago, most likely spending its days snacking on soft leaves and the occasional insect. Their research, based on the discovery of fossilized molars at the Pwerte Marnte Marnte fossil site in the Australian outback, was published in the journal Scientific Reports this month.

CNN —Kourtney Kardashian is full of gratitude after experiencing a scary medical complication during her pregnancy. She continued, “I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. Kardashian and Barker, who is the drummer for Blink-182, are expecting their first child together. “Praise be to God,” Kardashian said at the end of her post. “Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing.”

Toe-toe-row!” B said, standing inside the tree, with the same intonation as the movie’s rousing, marching-band-style theme song. Notably, it was forbidden to put children on Totoro’s plush tummy, or to allow them to play inside the cat bus zone for longer than three minutes — even if the zone was not crowded, which it wasn’t. The staff members were friendly, but their rules made little sense for kids as small as ours. I wondered if that was another sign that Ghibli Park was still a bit rough around the edges. We grudgingly agreed to the no-tummy policy, but B wished to play nowhere else but inside the cat bus.

I took British Airways' Flying with Confidence course to help me overcome my fear of flying. And I know I'm not alone: up to 40% of Americans have a form of aerophobia, otherwise known as the fear of flying. So, in an effort to face my fears head-on, I recently attended British Airways' Flying with Confidence course. But in the same way that pilots always prepare for the worst kind of turbulence, aircraft designers do too. Breathing is keyOne of the main takeaways from the course was how to control my fear of flying through breath control.

The good, bad and ugly about BMI
  + stars: | 2023-05-22 | by ( Sandee Lamotte | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +8 min
Short for body mass Index, BMI is nothing more than a crude measurement of a person’s body fat based on height and weight. Yet critics say the term BMI has become a societal judgment by lumping individuals into arbitrary categories that perpetuate misconceptions about body weight. “Yet it has become completely medicalized that health equals weight, weight equals health based on BMI. Conversely, BMI can underestimate body fat in older adults and anyone who has lost muscle, according to the Harvard T.H. More conundrums: Women naturally have more body fat and less muscle mass than men, while some racial and ethnic groups are genetically predisposed to carry more or less lean muscle mass and body fat.
Hong Kong CNN —You cannot carry heavy things. Chan is a “pui yuet,” also called a confinement nanny, who lives with families after a baby is born. Richard, a content creator from Canada, traveled to Hong Kong to become a model and fell in love with her husband, Tom, there. During that time, the pui yuet makes dishes catering to the mother’s physical needs and helps her with milk production and other concerns. Few entities track the pricing of nannies in Hong Kong on a consistent basis because most negotiations are directly between clients and the nannies.
Opinion | Why Americans Feel More Pain

Over the years, they cut her open and removed bits and pieces yet couldn’t drive away the pain. At age 43, she now is off opioids but still suffers every single day, enduring chronic pain like an estimated 50 million other Americans. Wert is part of a vast and mysterious panorama of pain that is increasing, sometimes with no obvious physical cause. And while chronic pain is a global problem, it is particularly puzzling in America. In other wealthy countries, it’s the elderly who report the most chronic pain, which makes some sense.

In 2022, I made $457,000 in revenue working full-time for myself in the paramedical tattoo industry. There's also pigment camouflage, which is done when the stretch marks are flat, white, and over a year old. Some people think paramedical tattooing is just for women, but stretch marks don't discriminate. Paramedical tattooists are changing people's lives and that's the best part of itThe paramedical tattoo industry is growing and evolving.

After each practice, they lie in a circle, their backs to the grass, their faces to the sky’s fading light.
Within minutes of riding into Mexico in a rented white minivan last month, Latavia McGee knew that she was lost. She and three of her closest friends — close enough that she called them brothers — had driven from South Carolina to Matamoros in the state of Tamaulipas so that she could get a tummy tuck procedure. But this time, she was running late, had no phone service and had veered off course, Ms. McGee recalled in a recent interview. Also in the wayward van were Zindell Brown, Shaeed Woodard and Eric Williams, old companions with whom she had grown up in South Carolina. That morning in Mexico, they had been enjoying one another’s company, Ms. McGee said, as Mr. Brown, the best Spanish speaker of the four, asked strangers for directions.

One expert told CNN that many released prisoners are unaware that they lived through torture. His testimony was one of many used in a report released Friday from the NGO Korea Future, which detailed torture and abuse faced by detained North Koreans. "In the past, we had to crawl with both hands and knees when we were moving, but in 2017, we could stand up and walk," the man told CNN. So they just simply thought that they were bad people and for that reason, they were being punished," Kim told CNN. In February, the UN HRC released a report on human rights that backs up many of Korea Future's findings.
A friend of the four kidnapped Americans in Mexico traveled all the way to Texas with the group. But the woman stayed behind at a hotel in Texas because she didn't have her ID, the AP reported. That's all, and this happened to them," Orange told the AP. Zalandria Brown, Zindell Brown's sister, previously told the AP that her brother was worried about crossing the border. Two of the four Americans kidnapped in Mexican are dead, while the other two were found alive. Relatives told CNN and ABC News the group traveled for one of them to get a tummy tuck procedure. Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal said the other two Americans were found alive in Tamaulipas, according to Latinus journalist Claudio Ochoa Huerta. Obrador confirmed at a press conference Monday that the group was abducted on March 3 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, near the Rio Grande and southern US border with Brownsville, Texas. It was originally reported by Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador that the group traveled to buy medication.

Has fashion reached Peak Belly Button? Recently, we’ve witnessed the rise of crop tops for men, children, dolls, puppies and pregnant women, as well as super low-rise jeans and miniskirts from designers such as Miu Miu. Swimsuits and dresses now feature so many tummy and side cutouts they can resemble Swiss cheese. As midriff exposure has become almost humdrum, a new style is emerging: the belly-button-focused diamond-cutout dress. “Showing the belly button is the last taboo,” says New York designer Michael Kors, who created a black diamond cutout gown for entrepreneur and model Lori Harvey to wear to the 2022 Met Ball.

The US Navy's famed F-14 Tomcat fighter jet first flew on December 21, 1970. There was only one foreign customer for the advanced F-14 Tomcat fighter during its heyday: Iran. Rob Tabor/USAFThe Iranian air force was so skilled in the Iran-Iraq War that a lone Tomcat could clear the skies of enemy aircraft without firing a shot. The idea of selling Iran rare F-14 parts so it didn't have to cannibalize its own F-14 inventory was preposterous. It was this concern that led the Pentagon to shred every leftover F-14 Tomcat.
She told Insider she began sleeping terribly while working up to 14 hours in lockdown. My morning — and evening — routines used to be very different when I had insomnia in 2020. I like to say affirmations when I'm in a depressed mood — but when I'm feeling tired, breathing exercises help a lot. I start with more high-level strategic things, like reviewing the product roadmap — things that actually require a lot of brainpower. After three hours of this deep-focus time, I go out and walk my dog to make sure I'm getting enough exposure to light.
Parents should not use infant head shaping pillows to change a baby’s head shape or symmetry, the Food and Drug Administration advised on Thursday. Head shaping pillows typically look like a small mat that slopes downward in the middle to an indent or hole designed to cradle the back of an infant’s head. Not all such pillows are labeled as "head shaping" — some are called baby head support pillows, head cushions, flat head pillows, or anti-flat head pillows. According to the FDA, marketing claims for head shaping pillows commonly suggest that they can improve an infant’s head shape and symmetry or prevent or treat flat head syndrome. The FDA also urged health care providers to discourage the use of infant head shaping pillows and to educate parents on the risks associated with them.
