PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The slumping Philadelphia 76ers have acquired guard Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers for Marcus Morris Jr., Furkan Korkmaz and three second-round draft picks, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Thursday. The Sixers also sent Daniel House and a 2024 second-round pick to the Detroit Pistons, the person said. The House trade creates $4.3 million in cap space as part of the traded player exception. The trades have opened salary cap and roster space for the Sixers to pursue a player on the buyout market. CNN —Golden State fans wait anxiously for a verdict on Steph Curry as the superstar guard will get an MRI after he suffered a shoulder injury in the Warriors’ 125-119 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Late in the third quarter, Curry was injured when trying to defend against the Pacers’ Jalen Smith. As the Indiana forward drove to the basket, Curry reached out an arm that was bent backwards. “The trainers told me he was out midway through the fourth quarter. It was a night to forget for Golden State which is already missing Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins to injuries.

CNN —Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai says he believes Nets star Kyrie Irving “does not have any beliefs of hate towards Jewish people.”Tsai tweeted on Friday: “Clara and I met with Kyrie and his family yesterday. We spent quality time to understand each other and it’s clear to me that Kyrie does not have any beliefs of hate towards Jewish people or any group. The 30-year-old NBA star apologized on his Instagram account after his suspension was announced. Earlier in the week, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he believes that Irving is not antisemitic following a meeting between the two. Silver said the Nets along with the league will consult to decide when Irving can return from suspension.

CNN —NBA commissioner Adam Silver believes that suspended Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving is not antisemitic following a meeting between the two earlier in the week, the commissioner told the New York Times. Silver, who is Jewish, told the Times that the two had “a direct and candid conversation” at the league’s headquarters in New York. While the NBA did not hand down its own suspension to Irving, Silver said the punishment “got to the right outcome,” acknowledging the criticism the league faced for not suspending Irving sooner. Silver told the audience that Amazon bore some of the responsibility for having the film on its platform. Silver said the Nets along with the league will consult to decide when Irving can return from suspension.
