The attack took place at Bir Hakeim, near the Eiffel Tower, France’s Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin told reporters at the scene on Saturday night. He said that the man arrested was a French citizen previously known to intelligence services. The minister said he had been told by police that the attacker had reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the assault. CNN —An Australian police officer has been charged with manslaughter after he tasered a 95-year-old woman with dementia in a nursing home. Clare Nowland, a great-grandmother, died in hospital a week after she was tasered at the home in May. A 33-year-old senior constable, Kristian White, is alleged to have tasered Nowland at the home after asking her to drop a steak knife she was holding. The other officer attempted to grab the knife, but Nowland is said to have moved towards them with her walker. Family friend Andrew Thaler said at the time that before the incident Nowland was frail and unable to stand unaided.

ATLANTA (AP) — An Atlanta police officer responding to a minor car crash deployed a Taser on a church deacon who disregarded multiple commands to sign a traffic ticket, shocking the man after he repeatedly said he could not breathe, police body camera video released Wednesday shows. The roughly hour-long video shows Kimbrough arriving at the scene of the crash and gathering information from Hollman, the other driver and a passenger before the confrontation. Zuberi was taken into federal custody after a woman escaped from his Klamath Falls home last month, according to a news release from the FBI field office in Portland. The woman was kidnapped from Seattle and sexually assaulted before being placed in a “makeshift cell” in Zuberi’s garage, investigators said. “Zuberi told the victim she was under arrest,” the Klamath Falls Police Department said in a news release. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where detectives responded to a report of a rape victim, according to Klamath Falls police. Klamath Falls Mayor Carol Westfall told the local newspaper Herald and News that she and her husband own the home where Zuberi allegedly held the woman.
