All U.N. members consider the region to be part of Moldova, which has expressed a desire to reintegrate the region. Similarly to Ukraine, Moldova has a pro-Western government and wants to join the European Union. Problematically for Russia, Moldova and Transnistria are landlocked, sandwiched between Romania and Ukraine. CNBC has asked the Kremlin to comment on concerns that Moscow could look to destabilize Moldova and is awaiting a response.

The decision to detonate the bomb at sea was taken “after considering all options, including a controlled detonation on site,” according to a government statement. Ex-Education Secretary Betsy DeVos maxed out contributions to Michigan GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers. In total, the DeVos family gave Rogers $46,200 in the third quarter, a significant sum this early in the race. In addition to Betsy DeVos, several other members of the DeVos family — who are highly influential in Michigan Republican politics — gave the maximum political contributions to Rogers. Betsy DeVos, a former Michigan Republican Party chair, served as Education secretary under President Donald Trump from February 2017 to January 2021. Last year, the former Education secretary attracted renewed attention after she remarked that the department she once led "should not exist" during a speech at the national Moms for Liberty summit.

Ms. Remini bought the six-bedroom, nine-bath property in 2003 for $3.75 million and first listed it on the market in September 2022 for $12,995,000. Now, she’s slashed half a million dollars off the price for the property, which stretches more than 10,000 square feet on a manicured and gated 1.58-acre lot, asking $12,499,000. The home is in the neighborhood of Fryman Canyon, one of Los Angeles’s most prestigious and star-studded corners.
