The pace of inflation likely moderated again in August — further relief for beleaguered consumers still smarting from pandemic-era price shocks. While the Fed is now widely expected to cut interest rates, a cut of just 0.25% may not be enough to stave off that scenario.

A Pakistani man allegedly tied to Iran has been charged with an elaborate plot to assassinate current and former government officials, potentially including former President Donald Trump.
