At a meeting with Russian businessman Dmitry Mazepin, who gave up control of fertiliser producer Uralchem-Uralkali after he was hit by EU sanctions in March, Putin said Russia was ready to increase its fertiliser exports. "The main problem was probably the fact that quite a lot of fertiliser was frozen in European ports," Mazepin said at the meeting, which was shown on state TV. There are 262,000 tonnes of Uralchem's fertiliser frozen in ports of Estonia, Latvia, Belgium and the Netherlands, he said. Other producers, Acron and Eurochem, have 52,000 tonnes and almost 100,000 tonnes of their fertiliser stuck in Europe, respectively. Mazepin also asked for Putin's further help with resumption of Russian ammonia exports via a pipeline running from Russia through Ukraine to the Black Sea.

Nov 2 (Reuters) - Russia said on Wednesday it would renew its participation in an agreement allowing Ukraine to export grain via the Black Sea, just four days after suspending its role in the deal. The U-turn followed a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday, and after consultations between their defence ministers. "We did not bury this deal, but we did not expect Russia's return to it so soon either, as it was not very clear what kind of guarantees Russia could get and how quickly it would happen. Britain has denied involvement and accused Russia of trying to divert attention from its military failures in Ukraine. Despite the Russian move, ships had continued to export Ukrainian grain, and a record volume moved on Monday.
Nov 2 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday reserved Russia's right to withdraw again from an international agreement allowing Ukraine to export grain via the Black Sea, after ending four days of non-cooperation with the deal. If Russia did so, however, Putin said it would not impede shipments of grain from Ukraine to Turkey. Wednesday's U-turn followed a phone call between Putin and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday and consultations between their defence ministers. Despite the Russian move, ships had continued to export Ukrainian grain, and a record volume moved on Monday. Russian political analyst Tatiana Stanovaya said Wednesday's announcement represented an acknowledgement by Putin that he could not block the shipments.
ISTANBUL, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Delegations from Ukraine, Turkey and the United Nations agreed not to plan any movement of vessels on Nov. 2 as part of the Black Sea grain deal, the United Nations secretariat at the joint coordination centre said on Tuesday. In a statement, the secretariat said Turkish and U.N. inspectors have concluded 36 inspections on board outbound vessels on Nov. 1, days after Russia suspended participation in the initiative. Russian aluminium producer Rusal reshuffles sales team

Rusal, the world's largest aluminium producer outside China, has not been hit directly by the sanctions imposed on Moscow since it sent thousands of troops to Ukraine on Feb. 24. However, some consumers said last month they would not buy Rusal's aluminium for 2023, and the London Metal Exchange launched a discussion paper on the possibility of banning Russian aluminium from being traded in its system. Steve Hodgson, who previously held the sales director post, will remain with Zug-based Rusal Marketing GmbH to support sales to international consumers. Andryushin "has vast experience in sales development and diversification in difficult market conditions," Evgenii Nikitin, Rusal chief executive, said in the statement. Elias Sarkis will be in charge of Rusal's export sales and Bob Katsiouleris - in charge of market development and quality, Rusal added.
The order should also prohibit firms related to "unfriendly" states from owning Russian companies involved in grain loading capacity in ports, and grain storage, he said. VTB owns stakes in a number of major Russian grain export hubs in the Black Sea. Russian grain market players should still be allowed to sell grain to international traders for export on a free-on-board basis, which includes delivery to the final destination, the letter said. "But the main idea is to strengthen the position of Russian traders on the global market, not to prohibit anyone from doing anything," the source said. According to one grain trader, the government is expected to prepare its response to VTB's proposal by Sept. 30.

A small toy figure and gold imitation are seen in front of the Polymetal logo in this illustration taken November 19, 2021. Polymetal has not been directly targeted by Western sanctions imposed on Moscow since it sent thousands of troops to Ukraine in February. Owners of the shares held via NSD, Russia's domestic paying agent, are unable to receive dividends now. To ease the process, the miner is currently considering changing the jurisdiction of the parent company - Polymetal International Plc - from Jersey to a "friendly" territory, it said.
