Slideshow ( 2 images )WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Monday it was upgrading and expanding its investigation into 708,000 Ford Motor sport utility vehicles and trucks over catastrophic engine failures tied to a faulty valve. The investigation covers 2021 and 2022 model year Ford Bronco, Edge, Explorer, and F-150 and Lincoln Aviator and Nautilus vehicles. A Ford spokeswoman said the automaker was working with NHTSA to support their investigation. NHTSA said it had reports of 328 customer complaints and 487 warranty claims relating to the vehicles under investigation. Ford added it believed “defective intake valves commonly fail early in a vehicle’s life and has suggested that the majority of failures have already occurred.”

The SEC said Nano-X also touted the misleadingly low estimate before and after its August 2020 initial public offering, which raised $165 million. Poliakine was Nano-X's chief executive at the time of the misleading statements, and is now non-executive chairman, the SEC said. Without admitting or denying wrongdoing, Nano-X and Poliakine agreed to pay respective civil fines of $650,000 and $150,000, and Poliakine will pay $267,000 in disgorgement plus interest.

TOKYO, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Japan's Sumitomo Metal Mining (5713.T) said on Monday it will invest 16.9 million Canadian dollars ($12.5 million) in Canada's battery material company Nano One Materials (NANO.TO) to collaborate on manufacturing technology for the material. The move comes after Japan and Canada agreed to work more closely together to establishing sustainable and reliable global battery supply chains. Sumitomo Metal supplies the nickel-cobalt-aluminium (NCA) cathode materials for the Panasonic (6752.T) lithium-ion batteries used in Tesla (TSLA.O) electric vehicles (EVs). The two companies will work together to develop manufacturing technology for battery cathode materials for EVs at a lower cost and environmental impact, it added. Sumitomo Metal has been expanding its production capacity of the cathode materials and plans further expansions.

"It is not clear that it (the all-stock offer Stratasys made for Desktop Metal) creates value for 3D printer manufacturer Stratasys shareholders," ISS wrote in its note to clients with a headline "vote against acquisition at SSYS meeting." The directors felt this deal was more attractive than others, including overtures from 3D Systems and Nano Dimension. But as Stratasys', Desktop Metal's and 3D Systems' share prices have dropped in the last 52 weeks, ISS argued that 3D Systems' cash and stock offer for Stratasys "holds out an important hedge against further declines." 3D Systems offered to pay $7 in cash and 1.6387 3D shares per Stratasys share, which would leave them owning 46% of the combined company. Stratasys investor Nano Dimension, which owns 14.1% of the company, said last week that it would vote against the merger.
