NEW YORK — A new lawsuit accuses Subway of “grossly misleading” customers by advertising sandwiches that contain at least three times more meat than it delivers. According to a proposed class action filed Monday in federal court in Brooklyn, Subway ads for its Steak & Cheese sandwich show layers of meat piled high, reaching about as high as the surrounding hero bread. In reality, according to several photos in the complaint, the fast-food chain’s sandwiches are far more bread than filling. New York CNN —A broken McDonald’s McFlurry machine, arguably one of life’s greatest nuisances, has finally been solved thanks to a court ruling. McDonald’s franchises haven’t been able to fix the soft serve ice cream machines on their own because manufacturing company Taylor owns the copyright and exclusive rights to fix the machines — until now. The inability to make timely fixes has been a bane of the customers’ existence, so much so, that there’s a third-party website called McBroken.com that tracks their availability. Broken ice cream machines have been such a blemish on McDonald’s reputation that even competitors mock them for it. And perhaps a fix can’t come quick enough: Nearly 15% of ice cream machines are broken as of Monday, according to McBroken.

No E. coli was detected in samples of beef patties used in McDonald's Quarter Pounders that have been linked to a deadly outbreak, a company spokesperson said Sunday, citing tests by the Colorado Agriculture Department. The department has no further plans to test the beef patties, the company spokesperson said, and the patties have been ruled out as the source of the outbreak. The most likely source of contamination was slivered onions from a single source, the company spokesperson said, citing the Food and Drug Administration. McDonald’s stopped sourcing slivered onions from that source — Taylor Farms Colorado Springs — indefinitely on Sunday, the company spokesperson said, days after it removed the Taylor Farms onions from its supply chain. The McDonald's spokesperson said the company is confident asking beef suppliers to provide a fresh supply of patties for distribution.

CNN —McDonald’s will resume selling Quarter Pounders in all restaurants in the coming week after considering new data regarding an E. coli outbreak linked to its famed burgers, the company announced Sunday. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a food safety alert Tuesday warning dozens of people reported eating the Quarter Pounder sandwich at McDonald’s before becoming sick. On Sunday, the Colorado Department of Agriculture said McDonald’s beef patties used for the Quarter Pounder tested negative for E. coli. The 900 restaurants that received slivered onions from McDonald’s supplier Taylor Farms’ Colorado Springs facility will resume sales of Quarter Pounders without slivered onions, the release added. CNN has reached out to the FDA to see if it has ruled out beef patties as the source of the E. coli outbreak.
