The Food and Drug Administration expanded the approval of Kisqali, a drug for metastatic breast cancer, to also treat patients with earlier stages of the disease, drugmaker Novartis said Tuesday. The approval means that tens of thousands of women diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer will have access to a medication that can help prevent their cancer from coming back. The expanded approval is for patients with HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer, the most common form of the disease. The pace of inflation likely moderated again in August — further relief for beleaguered consumers still smarting from pandemic-era price shocks. Under the new passport-less immigration program, Singapore residents will not need to show their passports to arrive and depart at air and sea checkpoints. Foreign travelers must also enroll their iris, facial and fingerprint biometrics at manual immigration counters, according to Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority. However, children under six years old cannot use biometric clearance, or automated lanes at all, to clear immigration, according to authorities. By early 2026, Singapore immigration officials expect 95% of travelers will be able to clear immigration via automated lanes. Biometric processing is expected to reduce immigration wait times by 40%, according to immigration officials.

Officials later confirmed to the Associated Press that some F-16s were indeed in Ukraine. AdvertisementThis means Ukraine may not use its F-16s for the frontline offensives it would prefer, according to military experts and Ukraine's top general. Peter Layton, a fellow at the Griffith Asia Institute who served in Australia's air force, said Ukraine would have to be cautious. He said its small number of aircraft and few pilots would mean Ukraine has to prioritize avoiding losses, so it can fly the F-16s as long as possible. Ukraine also faces challenges when it comes to logistics around the F-16s.

Normal train service had resumed on the French rail network by Monday — when authorities reported damage to telecoms infrastructure, which caused local power outages and raised the specter of further national disruption. Secretary of State for Digital Affairs Marina Ferrari that France's telecoms network was experiencing isolated outages due to damage carried out overnight in several regions. It was not immediately clear whether vandalism to the telecoms network was connected to the damage and arson carried out on the rail network last week.
