It didn’t imagine Dominion would be falsely accused of helping to rig a presidential election. Dominion this week reached a $787.5 million settlement in its defamation suit against Fox News parent Fox Corp. over the network’s 2020 broadcasts that amplified false election-fraud charges. The settlement is a windfall for Staple Street, which paid $38 million for a 76% stake in the business through two private-equity funds.

Just like Dominion, Smartmatic is accusing Fox’s news networks of airing defamatory comments about its products in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, including that the voting-machine company helped rig the outcome in favor of Joe Biden. The $2.7 billion lawsuit is pending in New York state court.

Target shoppers can soon get a Starbucks coffee, make a return and retrieve an online purchases without leaving their cars. Some retailers are rethinking their approach to discounts while questioning other costs, such as giving away free shipping or deliveries without strings attached. Some retailers have also turned free shipping into a perk for only engaged or higher spending customers. Nike , for instance, offers free shipping for shoppers – if they share their personal data by joining its membership program.

Trump resisted efforts to return materials in his possession, prompting a FBI search of his Florida home and resort last year. Warehouse work pays well — often double the local minimum wage — for people without college degrees or specialized trade skills. Organizing efforts have sprung up, as some unions see the pace and danger of warehouse work as a chance to mobilize. A leaked memo from 2021, first reported by Recode, showed Amazon warehouses had annual turnover of 159% in 2020. Amazon employs more warehouse workers than any other company, with a US warehouse workforce of roughly 700,000 people.

The widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election as alleged by Trump and his supporters was never proven.
