The airline announced a “first-of-its-kind partnership” with Shake Shack to serve the chain’s cheeseburgers in first class on long-distance domestic flights beginning December 1 on flights out of Delta’s hub in Boston and expanding to other cities throughout 2025. For example, Alaska Airlines created a hot coffee that tastes better in the skies, while United Airlines added cold brew coffee from Illy. Delta has served a generic cheeseburger in first class over the past few years to mostly positive reviews online. And it’s not the first airline to partner with a burger chain — United Airlines once served McDonald’s Happy Meals in the 1990s. Steve Jobs had apparently had mixed feelings about Apple entering the TV market before his death. Apple cofounder Steve Jobs reportedly made it clear before he died that Apple wouldn't pursue its own television set, but the company may now be revisiting the idea over a decade later. Jobs reportedly told biographer Walter Isaacson that he'd "finally cracked" how to make TVs simpler to use. In 2014, writer and former Apple beat reporter Yukari Iwatani Kane wrote in her book, "Haunted Empire: Apple After Steve Jobs," that Jobs told top Apple employees in 2010 that the company wouldn't be making a TV set. New York CNN —McDonald’s is spending $100 million on marketing and to help franchises most heavily affected by a recent E. coli outbreak that has sickened more than 100 people and damaged sales. In a memo sent to employees and obtained by CNN, McDonald’s is spending $35 million on marketing, which includes a value deal focused on its chicken nuggets, plus $65 million directed toward franchisees that have lost business in states where the outbreak happened. Visits and sales took a nosedive in October after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration said that fresh slivered onions served on the Quarter Pounders were the likely source of an E. coli outbreak. More than 100 people got sick across 14 states and several lawsuits have been filed against the chain. McDonald’s has said recent tests showed no E. coli in its food, and in the memo noted its Quarter Pounder burgers topped with slivered onions are now back on menus nationwide.

New York CNN —Laura Helmuth is resigning as editor-in-chief of Scientific American magazine following an expletive-filled rant about Donald Trump voters. Posting on Bluesky, an X rival, Helmuth said Thursday that she’s “decided to leave Scientific American after an exciting 4.5 years as editor in chief” without mentioning her previous comments. In a series of now-deleted posts on the same platform, she called Trump voters the “meanest, dumbest, most bigoted” group and “fascists” following the former president’s reelection last week. Helmuth had apologized in a separate post, calling them “offensive and inappropriate” and that they don’t “reflect the position” of Scientific American. “We wish her well for the future.”At 179-years-old, Scientific American says it’s the “oldest continuously published magazine” in the United States and has published pieces from more than 200 Nobel winners.
