While it was an asset to Biden in polling against Trump, it appears to be a much bigger advantage for Harris. And in this new NBC poll, Harris’ advantage was just under 20 points. It’s obvious at this point that Trump will win men by close to double digits, ditto with Harris among women. But many voters have seen "Vice President Kamala Harris" as a fresher candidate, including those who previously viewed Trump as a better steward of the economy. That would spell doom for Democrats' Senate majority.

Washington CNN —Vice President Kamala Harris’ vow to gut the Senate’s filibuster rule to pass a bill codifying abortion rights has cost her an endorsement from a leading Senate moderate: Joe Manchin. Asked about Harris’ past support for gutting the filibuster, Manchin said: “Well, she said she supported banning fracking too, and she changed that. Senate GOP Whip John Thune attacked Harris over her filibuster comments and vowed to preserve the delay tactic if he is elected as majority leader. “I think they’re willing to change the filibuster over a whole range of issues,” Thune said of the Democrats. This week Senator Joe Manchin, independent from West Virginia, called a committee vote on a bill to speed up approval of energy projects that puts environmentalists in a tough spot. The bill boosts solar and wind by making it easier to build transmission lines to carry green power from where it’s generated to where it’s needed. But it also boosts fossil fuels by opening public lands and waters to oil and gas leasing, and makes it easier to export liquefied natural gas. The fight against climate change depends on the choices that humans make, and this vote was one of the more important choices of the year. On the other hand, from what I know of the legislation, I think I would have been a “nay.” It’s far too friendly to fossil fuels.
