Investigators searched the offices of U.S. streaming giant Netflix in France and the Netherlands Tuesday as part of a preliminary investigation into tax fraud and money laundering, a French judicial source close to the investigation told NBC News. Searches were being conducted simultaneously at the company's headquarters in Paris and Amsterdam by Dutch magistrates and investigators, accompanied by French magistrates and investigators. The preliminary print, announced by German statistics office Destatis, is harmonized across the euro area for comparability. Harmonized inflation had dropped to 1.8% in September, after coming in at the European Central Bank's 2% target in August. So-called core inflation, which strips out more volatile food and energy costs, came in at 2.9% in October, the German statistics office said Wednesday, an increase from the 2.7% reading of September. In a note translated by CNBC, Deutsche Bank economist Sebastian Becker said that the renewed rise in core inflation showed that the problem of growth in price increases was not resolved, and that further patience was needed.

"The Joe Rogan Experience" has reigned for years as one of the most popular podcasts in all of media, particularly among young men, who have been key targets of the Trump campaign. "The Joe Rogan Experience" has received criticism over the years after Rogan spread misinformation about Covid, used racial slurs and made antisemitic comments. In February, Rogan and Spotify inked a multi-year deal that would allow the podcast host to bring "The Joe Rogan Experience" to other audio platforms. According to Spotify, it is currently the platform's popular podcast.

However, economists at Goldman Sachs in a Monday note forecast rate cuts "notably below market pricing." As a result, they see consecutive 25 basis point cuts taking the Bank Rate to 3% as early as September 2025, and to 2.75% in November next year. "Recent data have cemented expectations of another cut in interest rates in November. "That said, uncertainty around the economic outlook is high, and interest rate expectations will be sensitive to what the government announces in the Budget," Muir added.

CNN —A Philadelphia man is facing federal charges for allegedly threatening to skin alive a state party representative who was recruiting poll watchers, according to an indictment unsealed Monday. Prosecutors say that 62-year-old John Pollard sent several text messages to the representative, who isn’t named in court documents. The charges, which come just over two weeks before the 2024 presidential election, are part of an effort by the Justice Department to combat threats and violence against election workers. When the representative did not immediately respond, Pollard allegedly wrote again, saying: “I will KILL YOU IF YOU DON’T ANSWER ME!”“Your days are numbered, B**ch,” he wrote in a second. Pollard does not yet have an attorney listed in the court docket.

Asia-Pacific markets were mixed Monday as traders awaited China's loan prime rate announcement, with focus also on Japan's general election at the end of this week. China's central bank is expected to cut the one-year and five-year LPRs by 20 basis points, according to a note by ING and echoing the statement made by People's Bank of China Governor Pan Gongsheng on Friday. "Data aside, it is worth monitoring if there are potential further government ministry briefings or a potential announcement of the timing for the National People's Congress meeting in the week ahead, as stimulus rollout remains a major theme for markets," ING said. Other key economic data this week will include October inflation figures for Japan's capital city of Tokyo, as well as advance third-quarter GDP figures from South Korea.
