A Colorado man on a river trip to the Grand Canyon was found dead over the weekend, officials said Monday, in what appears to be the seventh death at the park since July 31. Patrick Horton, 59, was on day 10 of a noncommercial trip along the Colorado River when others in his party found his body Saturday morning near the river, the park said in a news release. The Grand Canyon recorded an average of 17 deaths per year from 2014 to 2023, a park spokeswoman has said. Since 2019, 2 million to 5 million people have visited the Grand Canyon each year, park data shows. Park data that looked at mortality reports from 2014 to 2019 shows that "photographing" was the most lethal recreational activity at the Grand Canyon.

Trump’s plan for blunting Harris’ momentum, some Democrats believe, could reprise elements of the 1988 presidential campaign that George H.W. “I think the Harris campaign has to be prepared for it.”The two sides are already hotly contesting the terrain of strength. Celinda Lake, a Democratic pollster who conducted surveys for Biden’s 2020 campaign, said his strength deficit to Trump had become a nearly insurmountable obstacle for his 2024 campaign. The surveys have also found a huge gender gap in the assessments of whether Harris and Trump are strong. As long as I’ve covered Republican campaigns, there has been racial fearmongering: Dark-skinned people are coming to hurt you. Bush, it was Willie Horton. Liberals would give more criminals like Horton furloughs, so they could break into your house and rape your girlfriend. With George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, it was Arab terrorists. With Donald Trump, it was migrants swarming over the border from Central and South America with the intent to rape and kill, as well as the racist “birther” conspiracy about “Barack HUSSEIN Obama.”

In 1973, the median size of completed single-family homes was 1,525 square feet, according to US Census data. But as the cost of buying a home has exploded and McMansions have fallen out of favor, homebuilders have reversed course, building smaller homes with an eye to first-time buyers. Today, smaller, often more affordable homes under 1,000 square feet are harder to come by in most US suburbs. According to an NAHB survey, 17% of homebuilders said they built homes on smaller lots in 2023 to support home sales, and 14% said they built more townhouses. Back in late May I published a bearish thesis on the homebuilders and laid out a trade for D.R. Since then, homebuilders have continued to underperform the S & P 500 and as 10-year yields continue to climb back towards 4.5%. I believe that there is further downside and currently there is another opportunity to take another bearish trade on DHI. Just earlier this week the $140 support level was broken and we can now confirm a new bearish trend. The total risk on this trade would be $625 per contract if DHI is above $140 at expiration.

America has a serious ugly home problem

Recently she posted a video on her YouTube channel in which she phrased the question more bluntly: "Why are homes so 'ugly' now?" Most people agree that America needs more houses, but nobody seems all that thrilled with the ones being built. Related storiesThe blame for America's architectural nightmare, however, doesn't stop at production builders, rising costs, or local codes. Homes look this way because they're not just places where we live — they're also supposed to help us get rich. As they stare down these rising costs, builders and architects have almost no choice but to streamline or opt for cheaper design elements.
