Trump has been declared the winner in ten states, including Florida, while Harris has won seven. AdvertisementPolls have now closed in the key swing states of Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Each state gets a set number of votes that correlates with its population — if a state has two US senators and three House members, it has five electoral votes. The winner must get at least 270 electoral votes — a majority of the 538 total. She has generally polled better in these states than the Sun Belt states of Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and North Carolina.

According to the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, $800 million in trade flows through West Coast ports every day. Montreal processes 40% of all East Coast container traffic. Approximately $572 million in container trade arrives daily in the U.S. from Canada, according to U.S. Census data. TAIPEI, Taiwan— A strong Typhoon Kong-rey made landfall on Taiwan’s east coast on Thursday, the largest storm by size to hit the island in nearly 30 years, closing financial markets, causing hundreds of flights to be canceled and reducing rail services. The fire department reported one person had died when their truck hit a fallen tree in central Taiwan. SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea test-fired a suspected long-range ballistic missile that is designed to strike the continental United States, its neighbors said Thursday, days before the U.S. presidential election. This would be the first ICBM launch since December for North Korea, a reclusive nuclear-armed state that has been ratcheting up its rhetoric against the U.S. and its allies South Korea and Japan. Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani later said the missile fell into the sea off North Korea’s east coast around 8:37 a.m. He said the launch time of 86 minutes would be the longest ever for a North Korean missile test, and that it could be a new type of missile. North Korea has said the deployment is a “rumor,” while Russian President Vladimir Putin did not deny the reports when asked about them by NBC News last week.

A 56-year-old woman was killed by a falling tree while traveling by car in central Nantou county, according to Taiwan’s Central Emergency Operations Center (CEOC). Strong winds from Kong-rey tore down a roof in Hualien County, eastern Taiwan on October 31, 2024. Kong-rey rapidly intensified to reach super typhoon strength on Wednesday as it barreled toward Taiwan after bashing the Philippines. Kong-rey is the third typhoon to make landfall on Taiwan this year after Krathon and Gaemi. After moving into the northern Taiwan Strait, the storm is forecast to head into the East China Sea and toward Japan.

Census data released on October 17 indicates that New York recorded the highest rate of people moving out of all 50 states. Business Insider calculated each state's net moving rate by comparing the number of people who moved into and out of each state per 1,000 people. The states people move out of the mostOf all 50 states, New York ranks last with a net moving rate of -9.23. But because of its larger population and the greater number of movers into the Golden State, California's net migration rate lands right after Louisiana's. North Dakota — which has about 780,000 residents to New York's 20 million — had the highest net migration rate at 17.55.

Biden mentioned Puerto Rico, slandered as a “floating island of garbage” by a comedian at Trump’s event on Sunday night. “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” Biden said, pausing for a moment before continuing. She’s now almost certain to be asked whether she also regards Trump’s backers as “garbage.” Her answer will only prolong the story. In a neck-and-neck race that may be decided by mere thousands of votes in swing states, neither Harris nor Trump can afford mistakes. And as CNN reported on Tuesday, his gaffes have caused responses – from eyerolls to outright anger – from some Harris campaign aides.
