Incumbent governments have been punished in Britain, France, India, Japan, South Korea, and elsewhere. The near-universal shift away from Democrats echoes voters' rejection of incumbent political parties across the world this year. An outperforming fund manager who previously sold Meta Platforms shares over concerns about the company's virtual reality investments is now bullish on the technology giant's artificial intelligence strategy. This optimistic stance marks a significant shift for Yiu, who revealed that his fund had previously sold out of Meta Platform shares two years ago due to concerns about the company's virtual reality investments. Meta's Reality Labs division, home to the company's virtual reality technologies and projects, took on $13.72 billion in losses in 2022 before Zuckerberg pivoted strategy. Investors have been accumulating shares of several big-name companies, from GE Vernova to United Airlines , during the market's recent dip. But those and other overbought stocks could be due for a pullback, according to one popular yardstick. Strong earnings from tech giants Amazon and Intel late Thursday were partly responsible for equity gains on Friday, as investors still look to megacap tech stocks for leadership. CNBC Pro screened for stocks that are considered technically overbought on the basis of their 14-day relative strength index, or RSI. Companies with a 14-day RSI above 70 are often regarded as overbought, signaling a pullback may be ahead, while a 14-day RSI below 30 often suggests a stock is oversold and could see future upside.

Loading chart...LONDON — U.K. borrowing costs posted two days of gains right after the Labour government unveiled a huge package of borrowing and tax rises in its Wednesday budget — but analysts downplayed the possibility of a second "mini-budget" crisis in the British bond market. The 10-year gilt yield , representing medium-term borrowing costs for the government, was slightly lower on the day at 11:20 a.m. London time. Yields move inversely to prices, so higher yields represent a sell-off in bonds — and an aversion to funding U.K. debt. The incident sent bond yields soaring so rapidly, they threatened to destabilize pension funds.
