Now may be the time for investors to buy shares of BioNTech , according to Evercore ISI. On Monday, his cousin, Caroline Kennedy called his views on vaccines "dangerous" and said they're rejected by his family. This "chaos," however, presents a buying opportunity for investors, Evercore ISI Cory Kasimov wrote Tuesday. "The u/g call is a combination of opportunism, value (both relative & absolute), and an increasingly compelling fundamental outlook around the company's deep and staggered oncology pipeline." Analysts are mostly bullish on the stock, with 13 of 19 rating it a strong buy or buy rating, per LSEG data.

Geopolitics are raining on the stock market's parade, but other trades are working. U.S. stock futures fell Tuesday as tensions between Ukraine and Russia intensified. S & P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures shed 1.1% each. That said, four trades are holding up against this backdrop: Gold futures rallied nearly 1% to around $2,640 per ounce. If geopolitical pressure continues to rise, the four trades above could outperform as 2024 wraps up.

Kennedy will likely have some influence over who the president-elect chooses for those roles, health policy experts said. Ultimately, Kennedy's influence over immunization policy could lead to an increase in diseases preventable by vaccines, several health policy experts told CNBC. Investors are already bracing for a crackdown on food policy, with shares of processed food companies, such as Pepsi and Coca-Cola , falling on Friday. Seigerman said "there is little precedent in recent history for HHS policy dictating or affecting FDA regulation or approval of drugs." In 2023, pharmaceutical companies spent nearly $3 billion on advertising for the 10 most promoted drugs.

“I think Bobby Kennedy’s views on vaccines are dangerous, but I don’t think that most Americans share them,” she said in remarks previously reported by The New York Times. Kennedy told NBC News a day after the election that he would not take away people’s vaccines. Kennedy has also indicated that the Trump administration would ban fluoride in drinking water and eliminate ultra-processed foods. Trump last week announced that he intends to nominate Kennedy for the Cabinet post. “They’ve been catching, you know, making waves, headlines.”“Let’s just calm down and wait to see what happens,” she added.

But many Syracuse residents feel that a potential threat to their health is being ignored. “This is morally outrageous.”City officials say that more than 14,000 homes receive water from lead pipes, which comprises about a quarter of residences citywide. In Syracuse, officials say there is no lead in the lake that provides drinking water to residents. That’s faster than EPA guidelines that call for lead pipes to be replaced within a decade. Activists hope Syracuse officials will learn lessons from the Flint water crisis, during which almost 30,000 children drank and bathed in lead-laced water before the EPA stepped in.

Kennedy holds a number of controversial views when it comes to public health, including anti-vaccine activism. Historically, Mande said, Congress has been reluctant to provide money to the agency’s food and nutrition program. “I think that is a striking comparison of how hard it is for consumers to make healthy choices, when the food industry is so powerful,” Politi said. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt, has called on more thorough reviews on food coming from abroad and recently compared the processed food industry to the tobacco industry. The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee is in the process of finalizing its scientific report, which will help inform the guidelines, Nestle said.

CNN —President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks are unique for many reasons. Kennedy brings his addiction worldview to prescription drugs such as those overseen by the Food and Drug Administration, which he would oversee if confirmed as HHS secretary. But Musk denied allegations of past drug use as reported in The Wall Street Journal early this year. Federal employees are barred from taking illegal drugs, and there are no reports to indicate that any of Trump’s Cabinet or other administration picks are using illegal drugs. CNN has reported that this year, Trump’s team is bypassing long and cumbersome FBI background checks for some of his Cabinet picks.

And by the way, I do believe that President Trump has the ability to pick some really, really good people. We've seen what they've done to President Trump, we've seen the attacks that they continue to go after him with. That's - that’s being taken completely out of context. And President Trump hasn't been the one that weaponized the DOJ to go after his political enemies. I think that's a pretty controversial pick, from whatever pronoun that he or he - he or she decides to use.

Recess appointments would allow the president-elect to place the House and Senate into recess so that he could appoint his nominees without having to go through the traditional Senate confirmation process. Here are some of the things Trump has pledged and how or whether they could become reality:Abolishing the Department of EducationPledge: Trump has repeatedly said he will close the federal Department of Education, sending authority over education back to the states and saving taxpayer dollars. Trump has distanced himself from the policy paper, but a CNN review found that at least 140 people who worked in the first Trump administration were involved. How it could be done: It’s not clear how the Trump administration could achieve these goals. London CNN —Weight loss drugs such as Wegovy and Ozempic have been hailed worldwide as revolutionary for medicine. Additional measures to prevent obesity in the first place are desperately needed, health experts say. Part of that new thinking is exploring weight loss drugs. Sanjay Gupta Reports: Is Ozempic Right For You?” at 8 p.m. Sunday, November 17, on CNN. Even as they agree that it’s important to address growing rates of diabetes and obesity, doctors in that field say Kennedy’s plans miss the mark. Not everyone with obesity will want the drugs, and for some, they may have strong side effects such as nausea. Doctors who treat people with obesity suggest that fixing the food system shouldn’t be mutually exclusive with using weight-loss medications, when appropriate. “But a lot of his thinking is like ‘A plus B plus C plus miracle, and you’ve got an answer.’”

The U.S. on Saturday reported its first case of a more aggressive strain of mpox: an individual in California who had recently traveled from Eastern Africa. It is classified into two distinct groups: the more aggressive strain, clade I, and a somewhat milder strain, clade II. In the current outbreak, clade I has been spreading largely through contact with infected animals and transmission within households, according to disease experts. But a version of the strain, clade Ib, has also spread through sexual contact among female sex workers and men who have sex with men in Congo. That’s compared to a 0.2% global fatality rate for the 2022 outbreak.

For Brandon Mintz, it was the text messages and calls that started rolling in from friends and colleagues asking how high bitcoin prices could go. Strategic reserve could set off 'bitcoin space race'Under this idea, the U.S. would establish a “strategic bitcoin reserve,” like the ones it already maintains for gold and oil. A day later, Trump echoed the strategic reserve idea, though did not put a specific figure on it. On Nov. 6, Lummis posted on X in all-caps, “WE ARE GOING TO BUILD A STRATEGIC BITCOIN RESERVE,” alongside two American flags. For crypto supporters, a strategic bitcoin reserve would send a signal to markets and countries alike about the digital token’s value.

Trump said he plans to change the Affordable Care Act, which provides healthcare for 45 million Americans. AdvertisementDonald Trump's return to the Oval Office could mean changes to Americans' healthcare coverage, based on his previous comments and actions while president. AdvertisementAs president, he will also have the power to influence America's healthcare landscape, including insurance coverage, drug price negotiations, government health and safety regulations, and reproductive healthcare access. Any changes to Medicaid and Medicare under Trump could also cause those with ACA insurance see a reduction in their care options. This could mean some Americans on ACA plans could face higher out-of-pocket costs and fewer in-network care options.
