From locusts to superworms to honey bees, Singapore has approved 16 species of insects for human consumption. "With immediate effect, SFA will allow the import of insects and insect products belonging to species that have been assessed to be of low regulatory concern," the Singapore Food Agency said in a statement. The agency said the following list of approved bugs can be imported for both human consumption and animal feed for food producing animals. Singapore's food agency acknowledged that the country's insect industry is "nascent" and that the critters are a new food item in the city-state. But in announcing a regulatory framework for edible insect imports, the SFA emphasized its priority was ensuring the safety of food consumed in Singapore.

CNN —India’s T20 World Cup-winning cricket team will finally be able to fly home Tuesday after being stuck in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl, a powerful storm churning through the Caribbean. CNN has reached out to India’s Board of Control for Cricket for comment. The hurricane made landfall on Grenada’s Carriacou Island in the Caribbean Sea on Monday morning, causing extreme damage and one confirmed death. As of early Tuesday, Hurricane Beryl had winds of 165 miles (265 kilometers) per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). India’s T20 World Cup victory – its first since winning the inaugural 2007 edition – sparked emotional celebrations after a year of heartbreak for many of its players, who lost to Australia in the finals of both the ODI Cricket World Cup and World Test Championship.

A major hurricane is considered Category 3 or higher, with winds of at least 111 mph (178 kph). Beryl also is the strongest June tropical storm on record that far east in the tropical Atlantic, according to Klotzbach. Beryl is the second named storm in what is predicted to be a busy hurricane season, from June 1 to November 30 in the Atlantic. He said one was the first hurricane of 1933, the most active hurricane season on record. An average Atlantic hurricane season produces 14 named storms, seven of them hurricanes and three major hurricanes.

CNN —The USA crashed out of the T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup on Sunday, succumbing to a 10 wicket defeat against defending champion England in Barbados that scuppered its hopes of qualifying for the semifinals and ended its historic run at the tournament. It represented a remarkable string of results for the tournament’s underdog facing some of the best teams in the world, but the USA ultimately struggled to match its opponents in the second round of the T20 World Cup. And England ultimately outclassed the USA, chasing down its total of 115 in just 9.4 overs, led by captain Jos Buttler who scored 83 runs off only 38 balls. Such a comprehensive victory guarantees England’s progression by virtue of its net run rate.
