CNN —Dallas police are investigating after a Southwest Airlines flight was struck by a bullet as it was preparing to depart from Dallas Love Field Airport in Texas Friday evening, authorities said. The bullet apparently struck the right side of the plane just under the flight deck as the plane was taxiing for takeoff from Dallas to Indianapolis just before 10 p.m., according to Southwest Airlines. The Boeing 737-800 plane sustained damage after the bullet struck “near the cockpit,” according to the Federal Aviation Administration. It also comes about two years after a woman allegedly fired several gunshots into the air at Dallas Love Field Airport, sparking chaos as travelers fled. Dallas Love Field Airport is located about 6 miles northwest of downtown Dallas and primarily serves Southwest Airlines, its website states.

CNN —Travelers aboard a Southwest Airlines flight preparing to leave Denver Friday had to evacuate after a passenger’s cell phone battery caught on fire and caused an airplane seat to catch fire as well. The Boeing 737-700 was still parked at a gate with 108 passengers on board when the incident occurred at Denver International Airport, according to Southwest. Crew members were able to extinguish the seat fire, the statement said. “Southwest’s customer care team is working to accommodate the passengers on another aircraft to their original destination of Houston,” an airline spokesperson said. The incident remains under investigation.”The flight arrived three hours later to its destination at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, according to data from FlightAware.

Five people were stabbed in an apparently random attack in Seattle on Friday, and police are investigating whether the suspect may have stabbed five other people since Thursday morning. A fifth victim was stabbed but was treated and released at the scene, Seattle police Deputy Chief Eric Barden said. "It’s certainly plausible that the suspect involved in today’s stabbing is the same suspect involved with the previous five incidents, but the investigation is ongoing," Barden said. In the other stabbings, a 52-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, and four other people were stabbed in separate attacks between then and Friday's mass stabbing, Barden said. A 53-year-old man was also stabbed in the neck around 1 a.m. Friday, police said.

Three people were charged in relation to the death of singer Liam Payne, Argentina's public prosecutor announced in a statement Thursday. The prosecutor's statement said that during the investigation into Payne's death, "illicit conduct was discovered from which three people were charged with the crimes of abandonment of a person followed by death, supply and facilitation of narcotics." CNN —Three people have been charged in Argentina for crimes related to the death of Liam Payne, a former member of the boyband One Direction, according to the public prosecutor’s office. The British pop star, who was 31, died on October 16 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The late singer had alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system before his death, according to the prosecutor’s statement. The first individual is someone whom authorities believe spent time with Payne “on a daily basis” during his visit to Buenos Aires. Payne’s cell phone also underwent a “forensic extraction,” and authorities were able to analyze calls, text messages, chats in messaging and social media apps, the prosecutor’s office wrote.
