Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari says the Israel Defense Forces will look into how a Hezbollah-launched drone entered Israel on Sunday without triggering an alert. Hezbollah said it had launched dozens of rockets towards Nahariya and Acre with the aim of engaging Israel’s air defense systems, while it also launched a swarm of drones – some used for the first time – toward areas of Acre and Haifa. The Israeli military said four soldiers were killed in the attack. Emergency services have said more than 60 people were injured. Hezbollah warned Israel that Sunday’s attack was the “easy part of what awaits if (Israel) continues its attack on our defiant people.”On Sunday, the Iran-backed group said it had launched 38 attacks on Israeli soldiers, army bases and barracks in Israel and southern Lebanon — the most since the start of Israel’s war with Hezbollah.

A Ukrainian drone commander says his unit can use $100 million to carry out 5,000 lethal strikes, per The Atlantic. The big takeaway was that, on average, for each $20,000 spent on his unit, Ukraine could score one kill on Russian forces. According to The Atlantic's writers, the commander's slides said that a drone unit funded with $100 million could stay on the battlefield for a full year, carrying out 5,000 lethal strikes. KYIV, Ukraine — Russian troops on Wednesday took charge of the eastern Ukrainian town of Vuhledar, a bastion that had resisted intense attacks since Russia launched its full-scale assault in 2022. Russian Telegram channels, however, published video of troops waving the Russian tricolor flag over shattered buildings. Russia has been using pincer tactics to trap and then constrict Ukrainian strongholds. Russian bloggers said Russia could now try to push towards Velyka Novosilka, just over 20 miles to the west. SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea showcased a ballistic missile capable of carrying an eight-ton warhead and featured a flypast of a U.S. bomber at military parades in Seoul on Tuesday, a show of force now held annually to signal readiness to respond to North Korean threats. For decades such military parades had been held only infrequently in South Korea. Military officials have said Tuesday’s parade was partly intended to showcase South Korea’s military might as a deterrence to North Korea, which frequently stages parades featuring weapons such as intercontinental ballistic missiles. The South Korean parade included a flypast by a U.S. B-1B strategic bomber for the first time, while the U.S. Eighth Army band and an armored Stryker brigade also took part. “That day will see the end of the North Korean regime.”Dubbed a “monster missile” by South Korean media, the Hyunmoo-5 was a centerpiece of the parade, specifically designed to penetrate underground bunkers.

Between 2006 and 2023, San Marino held the unwanted record of suffering the biggest defeat in European Championship qualifying history – a 13-0 drubbing by Germany. Bernd Schneider makes it 13-0, scoring a penalty past San Marino goalkeeper Aldo Simoncini. Ukraine narrowly won the battle of Irpin in the war's earliest days. That's the conclusion of American and British experts who examined the fighting along the Irpin River northwest of Kyiv. "The Battle of Irpin River was a close-run thing," wrote Richard Sladden, Liam Collins and Alfred Connable in an article in British Army Review, a British military magazine. An attack in the east and south of Ukraine was the most likely course of action, therefore Ukrainian forces were primarily arrayed against this." Russian forces weren't prepared to rapidly deploy pontoon bridges to replace those across the Irpin River that Ukrainian troops had blown up.

On Monday, Israel dramatically expanded its aerial assaults on Lebanon with airstrikes that killed nearly 500 people and wounded more than 1,600. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has warned of coming military strikes, but Israeli officials have not told U.S. officials whether or when a ground offensive could begin, the three defense officials said. The officials estimate a large offensive into southern Lebanon would take thousands more troops and armored vehicles, in addition to forces to hold any territory. In addition to tens of thousands of U.S. troops in the region, the Biden administration is considering options to send other military assets to the region. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah could dash already dwindling hopes for a cease-fire deal and hostage exchange with Hamas.

The current training period for new recruits is three months, which includes one month of basic military training and two months of vocational training, according to Ukrainian news outlet Ukrainska Pravda. The news of the extended training period comes after months of reports have shown that Ukraine's soldiers do not have the adequate training required to be on the front lines. And according to a June Washington Post report, Ukrainian commanders often had to dedicate time to training recruits basic skills like how to shoot. Ukrainian soldiers, according to the Kyiv Independent, are worried that the army will run out of trained people to continue fighting.

Three Israeli hostages, whose bodies were found last year in underground tunnels in Gaza, were likely killed in a military airstrike aimed at a Hamas commander, an investigation into their deaths concluded. The IDF said this was a "high probability" assessment but that it was "not possible to definitively determine" the cause of the three hostages' deaths. Both Beizer and Sherman were members of the Israeli military. Earlier this month, the IDF said it found the bodies of six hostages killed by Hamas and returned them to Israel. The IDF estimated that 101 hostages remain in Gaza.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has long conjured images of war that Europe thought had been consigned to the history books. Several Ukrainian military units have shared videos of these drones in action in recent days. Ukraine’s 108th separate mountain assault battalion shared another video over the weekend, saying that its drone pilots had flown the “dragon drones” over Russian positions. Video purportedly shows a Ukrainian "dragon drone" shared on Telegram by Zelenskyy's chief adviser Andriy Yermak on Monday. But it was only when Putin launched his full-scale invasion of Ukraine , in 2022, that Ammosov began to plot the overthrow of his homeland.
