Viewers have had mixed reactions to athletes who have gotten engaged during the Paris Games. While some feel that the grand gesture makes Olympians’ big moments even bigger, others say that the proposals steal the spotlight from female athletes in particular. A Chinese social media site even jokingly shared a post featuring an added engagement ring column alongside the medal counter. But proposals done just after a monumental win have drawn some of the most scrutiny from some fans. And many social media users came to the couple’s defense, arguing that the proposal took place after the medal ceremony.

Though the country’s Public Ministry later clarified that no arrest warrant had been issued for either opposition figure. The goal prompted a barrage of objects to rain down on the field from the stands, followed by a smattering of fans. In the interests of safety, the referee called the players off the field. The game, however, had not ended; it had merely paused. Morocco played out the final few minutes, the stadium now empty, and won, 2-1. Officially, that is how the game finished.

Take activist hedge funds, which buy up a percentage of a company's stock (or an asset) and then use their weight to push for operational changes. Or there would be a fun, splashy war between the hedge fund and the C-suite. Hedge funds rely on outperforming the market when times are hard and it's easier to find pockets of outperformance and exploit them. Of course, hedge funds are having a hard time coming up with a crew because the clients have changed too. He also regularly studies the Torah, attends Shabbat dinner and has said that perhaps his most important adviser is his rabbi. Over the past several years, Mr. Milei has taken an intense and, among most world leaders, unusual interest in Judaism. Mr. Milei has pledged to move Argentina’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. The IMF said in the report that emerging markets have seen a decline in the more volatile net portfolio inflows, but net inflows of foreign direct investment (FDI) has been more stable. At the same time, the report said that China saw net capital outflows over the 2022-2023 period, including net negative FDI inflows. Overall, global gross capital inflows declined to 4.4% of global GDP, or $4.2 trillion, in the 2022-2023 period, from 5.8 percent of global GDP, or $4.5 trillion, in 2017-2019. But the U.S. benefited strongly from the shifts, accounting for 41% of global gross inflows during the 2022-2023 period, nearly double its 23% share in 2017-2019. The U.S. share of global gross outflows also increased, to 21% from 14% during the same periods.

CNN —It was an attack that sent shockwaves through a country long considered a pioneer in LGBTQ rights. Local LGBTQ rights advocates condemned the attack as a hate crime and lesbicide, saying the women were targeted because of their sexual identity. After taking office in December, Milei took steps that critics say weakened protections for LGBTQ groups. The recent attacks have galvanized activists to fight for new policies and actions that would further protect LGBTQ rights. He also said that to reduce attacks on LGBTQ communities, their voices and demands should be amplified in more societal sectors.

On Thursday in Atlanta, the Argentine national soccer team will kick off the 2024 edition of Copa América, South America’s biggest soccer championship, with a game against Canada. Fans around the world, but especially in Argentina, have been eagerly awaiting this day ever since their beloved squad, led by perhaps the greatest soccer player of all time, won the 2022 World Cup. But when Lionel Messi, the Argentine captain and superstar, takes the field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with his teammates as the favorites to defend their 2021 Copa América title, a simmering sadness will follow him. Will this be the last time Mr. Messi, who turns 37 next week and said two years ago that it was his final World Cup, wears the blue and white Argentine uniform in a major tournament? Will this be the last time one of the most famous humans on Earth, who brought joy to many during unstable times in his homeland, represents his soccer-obsessed country?

Spaces opened up, but when they switched to Di Maria on the right, or to Marcos Acuña on the left, Argentina rarely took that chance. It appeared as if midfielder Leandro Paredes and defender Cristian Romero knew that Di Maria wouldn’t outrun Alphonso Davies. Three minutes into the second half, Paredes sent a long diagonal ball to Di Maria, forcing Davies to backpedal.
