Hong Kong's new global promotional campaign will "kickstart" the city's reopening to international travelers, the Hong Kong Tourism Board told CNBC's "Squawk Box Asia" on Friday. As part of the "Hello Hong Kong" campaign, which was launched on Thursday, 500,000 air tickets will be given away over the next six months, starting in March. The tickets will be given out through three Hong Kong's carriers — Cathay Pacific, HK Express and Hong Kong Airlines. "[But] you want to kickstart and … tell the world in a clear message that Hong Kong and then mainland — we have finally reopened." Some 80,000 tickets have also been reserved for Hong Kong residents which authorities aim to give out in the summer.

A baby boy was ditched by his parents at a check-in counter at a Tel Aviv airport, authorities said. The parents arrived late for their flight and did not have a ticket for the infant to travel, CNN reported. The couple then raced off to try and board a Ryanair flight bound Brussels, the Israeli Airport Authority said. The unidentified parents who held Belgian passports left their baby behind in a carrier on Tuesday inside Ben Gurion International Airport, the Israeli Airport Authority told CNN. Ryanair and the Israeli Airport Authority did not immediately return requests for comment by Insider on Wednesday.

Oct 24 (Reuters) - A Korean Air Lines Co Ltd (003490.KS) jet with 173 people on board overshot the runway at Cebu International Airport in the Philippines late Sunday, the airline said, adding that there were no injuries and all passengers had evacuated safely. The Airbus SE (AIR.PA) A330 widebody flying from Seoul to Cebu had tried to land twice in poor weather before it overran the runway on the third attempt at 23:07 local time, Korean Air said in a statement on Monday. "Passengers have been escorted to three local hotels and an alternative flight is being arranged," the airline said of flight KE361. Korean Air President Keehong Woo issued a letter of apology regarding the flight on the airline's website, noting that a thorough investigation would be performed with local aviation authorities and Korean authorities to determine the cause. Korean Air has not had a fatal passenger crash since 1997, according to Aviation Safety Network, a website that compiles aviation accidents.
